Thanks everyone. :D
Here is a pic of the M37 Dad drove while in Korea with the 226th ASA while on the Island of Kang Wha-do. Notice that it lacks the pioneer tool rack, which is why I have left it off the truck I restored. Also note that the truck in the pic is marked for the 277th ASA...
Nope, his had a shelter mounted in it. Here is some pics of it from 62-63. The holes in the side of my bed lool like they would match up with the config in your pic though. Plus at some point the front ant. was changed to a sugar scoop style mount on mine, as it matches the bolt spacing on...
I was looking for a radio shelter for it to make it like the one my father had when he was with the 313th ASA, but have decieded to mark it as his from the 226th ASA. They used the M37 to carry trick operators to the top of the mountain to the operations building. He was assistant trick chief...
Re: RE: Re: ambers..
It must have been a radio truck at somepoint in it's military life. The holes line up with a sugar scope type ant. mount and the older tri-anglular ant. mount. Also the knock-outs in the front of the bed and back of the cab are open and at one point had cables mounted...
Re: ambers..
I have the truck plated with historical plates. And I don't plan to drive it as a daily driver, but more for parades and special occasions. I also live in a rural area and know most of LEOs in the area so I don't think the lights will be a problem. Also I have the whites to put...
Thanks everyone. It's been a fun resto mainly because the truck was in such great shape to start with. As for the amber headlights, I was just plan lucky as they were on the truck when I bought it. I have no idea why the park service put them on the truck, but the bonus of it all is that...
Well I finished up the major work on the M37 I've been restoring. I just have items like the troop seat to finish up, and the blackout light once Lane digs a bracket out of his piles somewhere. But all the paint and markings are done. As well as the new 9.00x16 ndt tires. The markings were...
Shipping is a big item for me too, mainly because I own a large off-road business and ship several packages a day. Like Devilman, we have found USPS to be unreliable. And on top of that it's a pain to have to take them to the Post Office to ship them. Not all of us live in a big city where...
Thanks guys. I really got lucky in buying this truck sight unseen and it being as clean as it was. The Midland County Park guys really took great care for it over the years. They had had the truck for over 30 years. I could tell it was the pride of thier fleet at one time. I could tell when...
Well, more progress as I have the base coats for the 24087 on the truck. I painted 2 heavier coats on and will allow them several days to cure. I'll then put the hood and side panels and a few other pieces back on the truck and shoot the whole thing with a good top coat to make sure it all is...
Re: RE: Re: RE: I have been looking for this kit..
AFV Club, makes an excellent 1/35 M35a2. Highly detailed and does come with a ring mount and 50 cal. I've built several of them and still have a few more in boxes waiting for me to get to them.
Hey Lane, I had hinted at it in the GLMPVA post that I'm working on setting one up here which is midway up the western michigan coast. The nice thing about having it here is there are several options as to types of terrain. One day we could run the trails through this part of the Manistee...
I know there is a difference, but I already have all my other trucks painted with Gillespie 24087 and I would like them to all match. My M51 chem shelter is still in it's original paint and it is just slightly a different shade than my trucks.
Thanks, everybody. It is really nice to work on a clean truck and not have to deal with all the problems. I figure that I pay a little more up front, but more than make up for it with time saved. Yep Maxim it was a nice 72 degrees today in there while I painted. It makes it real nice to get...
Well, I've been busy working away at the 53' M37 I bought. Picking up a few missing items and removed a few add ons the the park service added to my truck. But it has been moving along nicely and today I started to spray it back to OD. I'm starting with the cab interior and inside of the bed...
OK I just got done checking everything and the Silver Lake MV show will be on Sept. 13 2008. I was also talking with another guy about trying to set up a SS Michigan ralley that same weekend here and take trail rides throught the Manistee National Forest on the trails that run all through...
Yep, got mine a few days ago also. Thanks! I lost track of time this year and forgot to send you my pics. Oh well, I'll save them up for next year. I have to nail down the date for the Silver Lake show. It will again be in Sept. usually around the third weekend.
