Thanks Lane, but I don't think the 715 will gather to much dust. The one thing I have already figured out about the M37 is that everybody in the 50's were short people. I'm 6'3" and to get my foot onto the clutch peddle I have to bring my knee almost to my ear. The little I drove it yesturday...
Thanks guys, she was a great find. I'll probably spend the whole day today playing with the new addition. Getting to know her! And it will most definately be going back to OD green. And I plan on marking it like the one my father drove all the time while in Korea serving with the 226th ASA...
Well all went well as I was able to head over to Midland County and pick up my 53' M37 that I had bought from them. I very pleased with the truck, as it is really clean and in good shape. I picked it up right from the parks garages and was able to talk with several of the guys who use to use...
2 things really stood out too me other then the red paint. 1 reproduction tailgate ( missing the JEEP stamping in it). Clean orginal tailgates are hard to find making them more desireable. 2 missing B/O light on hood. Well, the lights are easy to find, but the special angled mounting plate...
I don't want to sound like an azz, but that is way overpriced. I've seen trucks of the same calliber go for about half that asking price. Heck I would be hard pressed to get $12,500 for my fully restored 715. And I can't believe it only has 915 total miles on it. Sure maybe since the...
I know it's going to be an odd shelter to find, but I have good faith in the members of SS who can turn up even the most obsecure part. I'm not going to loose sleep over the shelter either, as I don't need it for the main restoration on the truck.
Thanks, I have a couple of that truck from Dayton also. But the shelter he is looking for has the AN/MLQ-24 set up which is the crank up towers that can be seen in the pics. He wants to have it before the next reunion of his old unit next year. He figures it would be a big hit to come rolling...
I got it off ebay. It was nice and close to me and it great shape so I had to get it.
Sorry Kcimb, but those were 2 of the best pics I had. I have several others showing bits and pieces of the truck, a fender here, a bumper there. Those were the only good shots with the whole truck in them...
Well, I just bought a super clean 53' M37 from Midland County Parks & Rec. The truck is original other than a few small items like taillights and paint. No rust and is in great running condition. It was well maintained and kept in doors for the last 30 years that they have had it. It has a...
I have seen several trucks with it mounted on the pass. side front section of the box. But I wanted to pull my ant. forward and was affraid to get it to close to the exhaust. Putting it on the driver side box would have interfeared with opening and closing the door while tied down. And for...
Thanks, guys, it's great to be able to use these vehicles to help events around the local communities. The Marines were all excited when I got there to deliever the truck. They all wanted to climb in and have thier picture taken with the 50 cal. I told them no problem, have fun and get all...
I had been contacted by the local Marine unit, Alpha Co, 1st Bat, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Div. about bringing one of my military trucks down to their depot for the kick-off to their Toys for Tots campaign. Having worked with them before for the color guard at the Silver Lake Military Vehicle...
For my non functioning one, I have it mounted to the front of the headache rack. That gets it just high enough to clear the side window while tied down. But is not so high as to hit low things. I can run parades with the ant up and a flag off it and clear wires and streetlights.
I just throw the genset in the back and away we go. It's a lot easier than dealing with inverters and such. The best way I've found to attach the lights without marking the paint is to use zip-ties. Luckily army trucks have lots of tiedown points and place to use zip-ties on to hold the lights.
Nice looking truck, welcome. There are quite a few guys here with 715's so you should be able to find a good bit of info between here and the 715zone. It looks fairly complete and most of the missing pieces should be easy to turn up in searches on ebay or the for sale boards. It does look...
