73M819, you are so right about the 1/4" bolt ruining the holes in the input shaft and drive shaft collar. SO Right.......... hope people understand what it does to the whole system. JT
Reviving this old thread, Current year is 2011, at Redball Rally in Gilbert PA. Lots of Steel Soldiers here, even the Doghead Duck family, they're really enjoying the rain!!!!! Actually is a good show, towns of good deals here and one more full day to go. Looking forward to better weather...
Well, we pulled in to Gilbert this afternoon and we weren't the first here. Thgis looks to be a heck of a good show this year. Lot of vendor sites been sold and couple of great groups of campers on thier way in tonight. Not too hot and muggy this year either. Sleeping under the shelter tonight...
John Winslow will have the correct head gaskets and probably the rest of the head set gaskets you will need. He might let you borrow or rent the head nut wrench. If not M35 Tom on SS has the head gaskets for a great fair price. Non TD engines get 130 FT/LBs of torque. Sould grind .006-.008...
f you don't have a CDL and some kind of truck driving experience you probably should get trained and a CDL before driving a 900 sreies in any more than a parking lot. Just my opinion, and a small amount of driving experience. JT
Hi Hoop, yes I have the primary 5131 gaskets, and the 5119 oil gaskets and the 5070 secondary gaskets, you can PM me with your address. I check daily, even down here at the Redball Rally in Gilbert, PA> at the West End Fairgrounds. We will be here all weekend and it looks to be a great show. John T
They are Budd wheels and they are heavier than the civilian counter parts . The 10 wheels will carry more than the truck can, from experience. Have carried 13 tons of crusher run on old smokey, not proud of it, but it happened and I drove it almost 20 miles ,no broken wheels. JT out
An exhaust brake is the only choice, unless you can get Jacobs to engineer, develop, and market a compression brake for an engine design that is now obsolete.
Blue-Ox is an exhaust brake outfit who shows interest in developing a system for the multifuel engines, check it out. But it will be...
All 5 of my Jatonka XM35A4 trucks have had the wheelbase increased by 9 1/2 inches. Since 2002 I have been building these on both front springs and the M105 trailer spring packs, including helper springs. Nicer ride and proper body fit, also have done storage behind the cab on some. Forge...
I may be playing the devil's advocate here, but, never saw anyone install a keeper on a transfer case lever unless it was coming out of gear under load. Expect to be buying a transfer case after you buy the truck, in my opinion. JT out
The wheel should be 11" wide inside to inside. When I build the Jatonka XM35A4 4x4 conversions they come with a spare tire and wheel. You should not use a 7" wide deuce wheel for a 14.00R 20 tire.
If you are gonna do all that work, why not get it right and put it back horizontal and exit on the right, ahead of the forward tandem? The noise is fun when you're young but you won't be young forever. It's pretty nice to be able to talk to your passenger. JT
