Tip for Cleaning Up Faded Composite Light Lenses

The problem after you are done polishing is that the sun (UV) quickly fades them again, at least here in the desert. The method I use on headlight lenses is wet sand with 600-800 wet or dry, dry the lenses completely, then spray on some automotive clear coat from the paint section at your local...

M939 transfer case air lines installed wrong

For disabling the auto-front lock on mine, I just took the linkage with the washer on it and reversed it. Pull the two cotter pins, the two clevis pins, remove the link and reinstall with the washer towards the front, insert the clevis pins, and replace the cotter pins. Consider using hairpin...

How much weight can tires and chassis handle?

The Michelin XZLs in 395/85R20 are rated at 12300 lbs. each and they offer a slightly wider footprint.

    Cab Roof Support Bows

I think it is 5/16 rod. At least the one rod that came with my truck that I copied was. You can also take the opportunity to make them slightly longer if you have extra sag on you top. If I recall, you need to get a 4 foot rod from the hardware store as 3 foot was too short.

    m35a2-a3 comparision

Don't let the lack of power steering scare you away. It was designed for an 18 to 22 year old man to handle so I think it is keeping me young. I off-road the heck out of mine (was out last night) with no issues. Just hold on tight and do not wrap your thumbs around the inside of the steering...

    Red's deuce/camper project

For a seat option, check out Peashooter's recent post on his build. Lots of those seats floating around, at least around here.

    PEASHOOTER's M109A3 CAMPER Build Thread

Glad to see they are working out for you. I think those seats in deuces and the older five tons are the bomb! Cruised around in the desert for hours this past Sunday and I just love the comfort level (comfort in a deuce?). I found the hole in the seat for the crotch strap is a good place to hold...

I can meet you half way if you go down to Elephant Butte on the weekend of Sept 12th. It is posted in the upcoming events section. I am sure there will be other like-minded individuals there then.

Duel fuel line mod M818 855 cummins

Remember that you can jack up the front of the cab to get more room from the topside, if that is the route you eventually take. Pretty easy to jack up.

    What would a M1028 RPM's be with 410 gears and stock tire?I

Yeah, lockup converters do reduce heat rejection but are not available with turbo hydramatic 400 (TH400) transmissions. That is what is in those stock CUCVs. When someone suggests a 700R4 as an alternative, you get a transmission with torque converter lockup capabilities as well as an overdrive...

    What would a M1028 RPM's be with 410 gears and stock tire?I

Non-lockup converter would add 200-300 rpm at speed. My two civvy trucks with 6.5 engines of the same family as yours have a "soft" redline at 3000 and a "hard" redline on the factory tachs. Soft redline is "do not exceed for long". Hard is "not to exceed". I don't think 4.10 gears are stock so...

Will an M1101 fit into the m923 bed?

In theory, my deuce will fit in my 5-ton bed. This is based on tape measure. I have yet to try it (so I can get a picture).

    Thinking of MRAP super singles

Many of the MRAP wheel/tire combos have a run-flat insert so that would help if you do not have a spare. I have also thought about jacking up a rear axle and chaining it to the frame if I heeded to. I always carry chains. I always used to carry a full size spare when my super singles were on...
