Seems to have a fill plug so I'm guessing oil filled till comes out the hole? Any other ideas?
I was looking into this a bit, ethelyene glycol is not a great choice as it's freezing point is relatively high (would freeze in my WI weather ). Propylene glycol has a much lower freeze point. Also it's non toxic.
So I bought the truck and had some really strange wires going to the taillights, one for right turn, one for reverse. See the wire and black wires here: (also notice the black wire seems to be holding the trans cooler line :oops:
The blue circle is where the trans line was rubbing on the bolt...
I've seen some info on how to program the CTIS on YouTube and that equipment and software seems fairly easy to source. For the CAT ECM reprogramming, can that be done without having a subscription? Programming cables available?
Tried the Progressive route "commercial vehicle for personal use" but they said they couldn't insure it. Mentioned if I had USAA then they might be able to. Talked to a USAA/Progressive agent (I have a USAA account) and they were able to push through the insurance with Progressive. Comprehensive...
Yep, got that all measured out. I may get a laser scanner and do the whole truck so I can have accurate dimensions for the CAD work. Plan on fully designing it on the computer as that's what I do for my work.
If I do that, I'll make sure to make the files available.
New to the FMTV, never driven one before so I don't have a good baseline. Truck is 2007 A1R m1096 with 1800 miles. When on the highway when maintaining 50-55 I have what sounds like gear lash noise. Goes away completely on accel/decel. Do these trucks tend to make some noise from the hub gears...
Any way you could take a picture of this? I'm working on something similar and trying to work out the best path forward. I looked on your YouTube page and didn't see anything that reference this. Funny enough I found out I actually watched some of your videos about 10 years ago on a Kel-Tec RFB :)
