I had to replace the original mud flaps with much longer ones to pass a safety check as the original ones were way too short.
I suggest putting them back on as you could not only get a ticket, but also in trouble if you cause damage to another vehicle on the road from a flying rock or...
Thanks. It is turning out to be a nice truck.
M109s are great for converting to campers. I am sure yours will work out great.
My paint doesn't have a brand name on it. It is a blank paint can with the color printed on a sticker on the side. I get it from a company up here. But officially it...
When I registered my M109 I told the insurance company what it was, a large 3 axle surplus army truck. The lady was very nice and simply asked for me to fax her a copy of the registration so that she could check up on it and also see if it had passed a safety check and was road legal (which it...
Looks really good. Yours is a rare one to have all the window shades still in place. Many M109's have some if not all of them missing.
Seems like you got a free locker in the back of the truck and it seems to be locked. Have you been able to open it to see if there are any goodies inside?
I...
I wouldn't really call it rare. You just don't see them very often because they are not really collectible or usable by the average joe. Sure you can pick it up, but if it is just going to move from rusting in a junk yard to rusting in your yard, is it really worth it?
I could see someone using...
Yup I think it turned out pretty nice.
SS member Polverone makes the decals. You can see the thread here:

I would go for steel for many reasons already stated by others.
The soft tops are okay, and fun if you live in a warmer climate and like the wind in your hair. But the deuce is loud enough as it is, and the soft top doesn't help with the amount of noise in the cab.
I just picked up one for my...
Yeah the paint is a lot darker in person.
I wanted to give it a good paint job. I like doing things right the first time so I might as well go all the way. Most bolts came out fine, but I busted a few. All the bolts that held the two yellow light brackets on the front fenders snapped off when I...
Sorry it is the only fabrication manual that I have for these trucks. There might be others, but I do not have them.
Oh ya, not a problem what so ever. I would be comfortable putting 2 tires up there without a problem. The only thing I would make sure is that you strap it down properly. You...
Here are some higher resolution pictures.
This is the original basket assembly that came with the trucks.
It is bolted to the sides of the cab top with 4 bolts on each of the four legs.
They fit on the US M35 perfectly as well (same cab).
I can take some measurements when I go back to the...
I believe they are rated around 600-700lbs. I have seen 4-5 guys sitting in one before.

Here is the manual for the the "make your own" basket if you don't have it already...
I just finished posting some pictures on my site. Sadly the pictures turned out bad due to my batteries dying and not letting me use the flash, but it gives you an idea. The color is darker in person than in the pictures.
Well you always have to be ready for the zombies ;)
No I haven't done the generator mod yet, but it is planned. At the moment it is just on the drawing board. I picked up some fuel tank mounts last week to hold the generator in place. Once I have her painted, I plan to work on stuff like that...
They are nice rims/tires. I have installed them on my US M109 & M35. And you can't beat the $275 price they are selling at surplus for the tire and rim with a 90-95% tread.
The transmission is an Allison Automatic MT-643. Works really well with the combination power steering and 1,500 other...
Of course these would not be for sale in the US. You can't buy a brand new M35 in the US. You have to wait until the government sends them out for surplus.
If you are looking for a Canadian MLVW (M35), just come up to Canada and buy a surplus MLVW and bring it back down to the US. I have two in...
:ditto:
That's what I said a dozen posts ago.
If you are 2-3 inches too tall on the trailer, dump the air out of the tires and you will be legal. That's what was done to transport my M109.
