Thanks 2duece. I was gonna get her and had a high bid limit on her. I was surprised though it went for as much as she did. I really didn't think to many people would have been bidding on her since she needs a lot of interior work. But I am happy I got her. Should pick her up next week.
Plan "B" is first on my list of mods as well as the standard mods like the Starter Relay mod. etc etc.. The unit is still at the Military base. I didn't know that the one in there was a window type. I guess the stock one died? I have a line on a stock unit and the cover. Hope to get her...
I was too. I actually thought it was going to go for less. I was a bit shocked but Ive always wanted one. Its only money....... Anyway it needs a bunch of interior work. I hope everything else is in good shape. If not then I will fix what ever needs fixing. Cant wait to pick her up next week.
My New to me M1010. She has 2408 original miles. Just sat in the sun. Dash board is sun baked. Missing some dash parts and trim. Seats look good just dusty. She needs a good wash to get rid of all the New Mexico blown in dust. Cant wait to pick her up. She is also missing the outer A/C...
Awesome build! Love the ambulance fairing swap. That will help your mpgs for sure. Those are pretty rare. The LED change up is exactly what I want to do now. Did you have to change the flashing unit?
On another note I am in need of the Chevy M1010 AC cover housing. The outer box cover. I...
Cancer Sucks. Good luck with the surgery. Prayers your way.
A 350 tbi or even a 454 will net you single digit MPGS. The low gearing guarantees that. The Banks turbo will gain you much more usable power and will net you better mileage. You will no longer cringe when you see a grade up ahead...
If you go with the ORD shackle flip MAKE sure they know its a CUCV. Don't order from the woman who takes most orders. She doesn't know that there is a different shackle flip for the 1 tons that keep the rear axle centered correctly.
My M1028 had a Trac Lock in the front. It was the original axle from the factory. Had a NP208 as well. The Trac Loc or Limited Slip Differential (LSD) worked great. I hope my M1010 has one. If not I will put one in.
Once you work out the problems your vehicle will be be much better off road than any modern vehicle. First off most modern vehicles need a computer diagnostic equipment to figure out what the real problem is if your lucky. You won't have those in the bush. If you look at the individual...
Your best way to increase power is with a Banks Turbo system or a A-Team Turbo. I personally will be going with a A-Team Turbo. You will also see about a 20% increase in fuel economy.
Thanks for that. I did see a Dana44 on a 79 K30 work truck with a corporate 14 bolt FF and an NP 205 behind an Muncie 456 4 speed trans. it all looked factory to me. It may still be at the junk yard. It also had what seemed like 3.73 gears maybe 4.10 but seemed like 3.73. If it is I will...
From Wiki:
The Dana 44 Front axle first saw use in the 1950s and still in use today. Dana 44 Front axles were known for utilizing locking hubs or a center axle disconnect system. However, a permanently locked-in Dana 44 is not uncommon. The Dana 44 has seen use in 1/4-, 1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-ton...
You now have it. (post #55)
To make something clear. I personally would not change out the Dana 60. Its an excellent top rated axle. I have populated mine with chromolly 35 spline axles and all new bearings, seals ect ect. But again its his vehicle and he is trying to get the lowest RPMs...
The Dana 44 is plenty strong. He also said he would not be taking her off road. I dont see an issue. In fact the Dana 44 came on 1 ton Chevys. In fact I suspect that is where he is getting his axles off of. The Dana 44 is a direct bolt in place of the Dana 60. The rear Corporate 14 FF may...
