Of the ones I previewed at Camp Dodge, I didnt pay much attention to all the locations, but I do seem to remember several with oil pressure in the bottom row there.
The reason I looked into the TM for locations was because I found having my air & oil right next to each other seemed stupid...
Were the multifuel gauges always located in the positions the TM shows? Mine were different, switched 4 of them around today but it got me wondering how the Army mechanics could get this wrong if all deuces were the same throughout the years. I suppose some of them are lucky just to get the...
I pushed my roof back up with a little leg power, its too stretched out though & just pops back down when I hit rough roads . It needs a couple new braces to keep it up.
Since 1990 they have gone by GVWR, not curb weight for DL requirements, and its considered 23500# GVWR no matter what tonnage I license it for.
I got a confirmation email from DOT yesterday about the text from the above post about "occasional operator" exemption. They said it does not apply to...
I just sent a reply to DOT & pasted that section from page 64 of the drivers manual ( page 66 online , page 64 on paper version) to see what response I get. It would be nice to get out of it, no sense having a more expensive license if I dont need it.
I too have a copy of that in my truck...
They said a CDL-B is the exact same test & cost except for chauffeurs D-2 there is no walk around safety test. dont really need CDL-B , and I dont want a CDL-A, I would get stuck trucking tractors all over for work then which I dont want. I just like wrenching.
I agree. I got varied answers at a local level so I contacted DOT directly. Told them it was an antique vehicle, strictly for recreational use in parades, etc. They said chauffeurs D-2 required.
Have to have a chauffeurs license in Iowa for 16000-26000# GVWR straight truck unless your a volunteer firefighter. They dont care if its just a toy or not. Got the written test done & will drive test Tuesday in my Deuce. Can't wait to see the womans face when she sees her morning ride:-D...
My roof is stomped in the middle too, cant even tell from the front. I actually didn't notice 'till I got it home. There are boot prints on the headliner & someone drew a "Kilroy" on it in chalk-must have been trying to push the top back up. I think it wil straighten out pretty good.
I saw...
Yes, Sgt. Birkenholz was great to talk to. When I was in his office he had a dozen padlocks on his desk for the fresh drop-offs. He was cruising around in a just turned in 113CAV deuce W/W, turret ring & whistler.
I saw your machine, rat, sitting across the lot from me today as I winched mine up on the trailer, pretty easy to spot with the tan! I got lucky with tool box contents too, as I posted in my intro thread. Didn't even notice 'till I got home.
Good news- There were several more Deuces being...
Deuce is home!

Called this morning & went down at noon to pick her up. My jump packs wouldn't crank it, so we just dropped the tail & winched it up. Got the batteries topped off & charging slow overnight so hopefully it will come...
Congrats!
I got mine Saturday afternoon too, wasn't expecting that!
I think you need to send a copy of your invoice with the signed pickup authorization statement with your driver. Not sure about pickup days/times, I have to call yet myself. The contact on base is 515 252 4353.
I'm going to...
Thats correct. There's a rubber ring that holds the governor basket onto its drive plate. It disintigrates and contaminates the pump. If it runs this way too long it will destroy the pins on the 2 steel parts. The replacement ring is of a better material & lasts longer.
Make sure you put a...
You must mean 15W40 plus 50? The plus 50 indicates the additive package is supposed to run you 50% past a normal service interval. This is what I will use (no deuce till tomorrow), I work at a Deere dealership so Im a little biased.;-)...
Kind of what I was thinking.
Ive got a lot of old "gee thats cheap" stuff in the shop that I do nothing with and some isnt worth what I paid for. Just wanted a few opinions, I didn't want to hear that GL just sold pallets of them for $5:wink:
Think I'll probably get it, but it will be a...
Sorry to drag up an ancient thread but, this was the only discussion I could find on these.
I have no idea what these may be worth. I have the opportunity to buy one like new, in case with sealed spare parts in canvas roll for $60. Deal or no deal? It seems though virtually useless, it would...
Yeah, he told me there were not many empty spots in the NE lot when they started.
There were about 80 trucks in the NW lot & maybe 55 in the NE lot when I was there on the 5th, my estimates could be off.
