I patched the holes with sheet metal, clear rv sealant over the sheet metal patches, then covered the roof with a line-x style truck bed coating. It completely sealed all the seams and cracks in the roof. No way for it to leak now. It is also paintable, so when I paint my truck this week, it...
Is there are particular reason why you are changing the switch? If you are changing it because yours is broken, get a standard switch, they are plentiful and cheap. The new electronic style ones are VERY expensive and I have heard are always broken.
The only place I had seen them is on ebay...
I thought the other way because he mentioned "home made". So I thought he was talking about home made hitch assemblies.
Someone had mentioned this to me, and I decided to check it out before I did anything. I visited 2 truck shops and afterwards decided to visit the transport authority to be...
In Canada, the registration and title are one and the same, we do not have a separate piece of paper for the title. So in actuality, you already have a title for the vehicle.
You get the paperwork to bring to the DMV from US customs when you pass over the border. You bring that with the...
No title/registration means no plate on the trailer. With no plate you cannot tow the trailer. Get caught on the Canadian side towing it without a plate (or transit paper) and you will have the trailer impounded.
Not sure how US customs will treat the trailer being towed without...
I don't think he is talking about your setup, but others who have made their own hitch assembly. I don't think he worded it properly. You have a commercially made hitch that would be legal, but in some places, the home made hitch assemblies are not legal due to possible safety reasons. I know...
Rust holes or cracks in the roof of shop vans are very common. I found a nice big one in mine. I have no problems after patching the hole then putting a coat of line-x style sealant on the roof.
Go with the new hitch assembly route.
I bought a hitch system which is made for custom installations. It comes with the two side plates and the main hitch assembly bar. You bolt or weld the plates in place then weld the bar to the plates. This is great as you can set it at any width or height...
Here is another site with pictures.
The guy built a custom box for the camper part of the truck. He did a really nice job on it.
I am old fashioned and like to keep my truck looking stock on the outside. But his is nice if you don't care about looking stock.

There are some for sale cheap on ebay.
I know we are not allowed to link to auctions, but just search for "Military High Power supply DC/DC converter 12V to 24V" and you will find it. They are also located in the US.
I have 5 of these types of units, and they work great.
I had the same problem bringing my M109 home. It was a couple inches too tall.
The M109 is too tall to be legally towed on many trailers.
The easiest thing to do is to let the air out of all the tires once on the trailer, and it will drop the truck by about 4-5", which should bring you down to...
We were told that all military vehicles (including M135/M211's and US M35's) that are currently registered are safe (grandfathered). But that anything new would be denied registration (like any iltis, MLVW and future surplus vehicles). Though due to the age of some vehicles such as the M37, M43...
We saw that unimog a couple weeks ago when passing through Angus. We slowed down to take a look but once we saw the price we just left without getting out to look at it.
From the outside it looked to be in okay shape but needed work (body & paint).
It will likely sit there a while longer at...
I was told "unofficially" that the military is scared about possible lawsuits in the future from accidents due to the old style breaking system (i.e: selling "dangerous" trucks to the public"). They don't want to look bad in case someone rules that someone got killed because of the outdated...
Important info!
****VERY IMPORTANT INFO. PLEASE EVERYONE READ****
When I read this, I thought that someone at the license office was just being an ass and that it was untrue....until today.
We went to the license office today and were told the same thing. It is now official that the...
They will not only sue the person who had the accident but also the person who made the tow bar if they find out who made it. You just need one person to say that you made it and you are screwed.
Also, if you build a tow bar for someone and it fails, that person who you sold the tow bar to has...
Expensive is a relative term. If they are selling for that price I would think that is what the market has set them at. Some people think that $2000 is expensive for a deuce while other think that they are worth a lot more. That's just how it works.
