Dont forget to check your tire air pressure. The higher the air pressure the lower the rolling resistance. That also makes a huge difference. Go with factory maximum PSI if the road conditions allow.
(This is just for the greatest MPG) I run my BFG BAJA 37s at 30 psi rear and 35 front...
Go to NAPA and pick up two of the flasher units. Top left and bottom right of the fuse panel. Get the electronic upgraded one. All will be well in the world again.
I dont need the 1 1/4 ton load capacity. I would like to try out a set of 3/4 ton springs and found a new looking set on the back what looks to be a garaged Suburban for most of it life at the salvage yard. Someone has removed almost the entire running gear.
Will a set of 3/4 suburban springs from same year as my M1028 fit on my M1028? I measered the width at 2 1/2" but cant tell if they are the same length as mine are on a shackle flip and the suburban is stock.
A Banks Turbo will see you with better MPGs (If you drive it like a man and not a child).

How old are the fluids in your drivetrain?
.
When were your wheel bearings inspected and regreased?

Are your POS stock WARN hubs stuck in the egaged position yet they say free? (My D60 had one bad warn...
I preffer a diesel for off roading but did consider the EROD 6.2 with 430HP and 427 TRQ. I would have ditched TH400 for sure. In fact Im going to do that along with my Banks Turbo install. Im going with either a built 700R4 or a stand alone computer controlled 4L80E. Both will be stronger...
I happen to have the newer style 12 bolt wheels. There is an alignment hole used to center the rim halves together. Looks like the military wasn't big on getting these holes exactly centered. This will definitely throw off the balance of a tire if there not aligned correctly. Other than that...
The absolute first thing you should do is change your vacuum lines. Dont forget the 1" length under your truck going to your trans regulator. Even if they are not the problem you will have new hoses that are not 25+ years old. This will set you back a couple of dollars in vacuum lines/hose...
Is there a tool that is used to align the two halves of the newer style (2000) 12 bolt wheels? Just had a shop "re balance" my wheels and they are not BALANCED! I suspect and can see the two alignment holes are slightly off. Also can the older style alignment washers be used on these newer...
Just checked. One lead on the ground and the other touching nothing 0.01. One lead on the ground and the other in the radiator fluid 0.22. NASA we have a problem. I suspected this and was planning on cleaning and greasing up the connections with conductive grease anyway. I will report back...
Check your engine block ground. I just replaced my heater core. I have the original and will have it fixed at me local Radiator shop. BUT, I did notice that my coolant light started coming on a few months before I had my first leak. After reading up on the causes other than age a bad ground...
I have an 86 M1028 with a 6.2 with 54,XXX original miles (On the truck at least). The engine has a HMMWV oil pan I'm told. So I am not sure if its the original engine but suspect it is. I'm looking into replacing the engine with a P400. I have seen ratings from 190 NA up to 250 HP (Turbo)...
Excellent thread. I need to replace the worn out pump for sure with a more modern one. Also I want ti install an intermittent wiper function in the process. Last but not least my wiper motor has started making a squeaking noise thats starting to get on my nerves! Anyone else have this problem?
