the throttle cable on this set ended up being no good. it actually worked ok but the nuts on it were completely frozen and with a little effort they just stripped out. it seems the 003 and 002 use the same cable even though the 002 is shorter. this makes the factory 002 cable kinda long so i...
time has been pretty limited lately so i havent got much done on this. since the last post i managed to make up all my battery cables, get them installed and the exhaust louvers back on.
when i make my cables i use 1/0 rubber jacket welding cable. its really nice stuff. there is a smaller...
ok im back now so i'll give a little update. i havent had much time the past week or so to work on this. an hour here and there so progress has been slow. when i refurb these i like to get rid of the noise suppressors on the fuel pumps. its just something else to fail and isnt needed. i removed...
Yes its not a high gloss. Its flattened quite bit but i did want a sight sheen to it. Looks a little nicer and easier to clean. Wont trap dirt. I have ben out o town for a few days. Ill get back on this when i get back
That looks like the ine green mountain gen has gor sale. Im sure you can get that through them. I know i have seen that elsewhere though as well. Just dont recall
i did my normal tank cleaning. a bit of lacquer thinner in there, sloshed around to dissolve any varnish. that was dumped out. this tank was is really nice shape inside. not much rust. i poured in a 1/2 gallon of muriatic acid to dissolve the little bit of rust that was in there. tank is rinsed...
the only real damage to any of the sheetmetal was the airfilter canister.
as you can see the intake tube is dented in. normally this wouldnt pose a problem but with that dented down it affects the operation of the slide mechanism for hot and cold running. i needed to pull that back up. i have...
thanks and yes your right firefighter. these generators were never finished to this level when they were brand new. they were just assembled and carc paint sprayed on everything. its much nicer when everything is individually painted, powder or ceramic coated. a level of detail can be brought to...
i know this doesnt answer your question and im not trying to be a smart a$$ but by the time you bought the wire, connection boxes and everything you need to do the project not to mention your time involved it would cost far more than a set of batteries for your generator. not sure what you would...
had a couple hours today to play with this. i got the eng/gen set back on the skid and bolted down. once i did that i wanted to get some of these parts off the shelf so i got the head, rocker arms on and adjusted. seems like on most of these gen sets the short head bolts that are exposed to the...
Thanks. This one is moving right along. Knock on wood, so far i havent come across many snags like i did on my 003. This one is really in fantastic shape. I am going to put my data plate and control box face kit on it when done so that panel will look like new.
update.....
i got the skid and frame back from being powdercoated.
i took some of that same cleaner i used on the gen and srayed it on the piston top and used a soft wire brush to clean all the carbon off. i also ran a tap in all the head bolt holes so when i bolt the head on i am getting...
ok todays progress was just doin some blasting. i lifted the engine and gen off the skid. media blasted that and a few other parts and dropped it off at my friends shop to be powdercoated. i disassembled the injection pump and went through that to be sure all is good and it was. everything was...
Hey john, its actually sold as a tire and wheel cleaner. I get it in 5gal jugs but you can get the same stuff, different brand from walmart in the car care section. Its called westleys bleach white. Its basically the same thing as what im using. Its sodium hydroxide based cleaner so its very...
