    MEP 002A Newbie

many of these machines just sit outside for years. almost all of the electrical components ground through the case by usually the mounting bolt. the ground situation on these machines usually isnt too great. my control box for instance, every single bolt was solid rust. i replaced all my...

    mep-003a teardown and refurb

i certainly will john. i really enjoyed doing the project. i love restoring old stuff. even though this gen is only from 86 and isnt that old, it still comes off as being old. i picked a color od green that is more similar to the real old color the army used to use way back to give the...

    mep-003a teardown and refurb

ok here is the final for the data plates. i think i got all of them this time. i think this should be a quick easy way to spruce up the 002/003 especially for those of you that buy and sell them. for those of you that paint their mep's i can also include the diesel and close to run logos. once i...

    mep-003a teardown and refurb

ok i talked to the data plate guy. he can do all the smaller plates but cant do the wiring schematic plate since that is too big. only way he can do that plate is if its done in plastic and at that point i might as well just stick with the vinyl and overlay it onto the plates. it will be uv and...

    mep-003a teardown and refurb

I will send him an email or call him. Since i have done all the time consuming design work on the plates it might be somewhat reasonable but there are like 20 plates on these machines. I would think that would get a bit pricy but maybe not, who knows. The upside is originality. Down side is you...

its just age. old wires the casing gets brittle then they get moved and it cracks etc. plastic breaks down in uv light. could be any number of things really.

    MEP 002A Newbie

Its a rubber puece and a plastic almost wedge seal around it. Pull those back. It will slide on the wires and reveal another silicone piece that the pins are in

    MEP 002A Newbie

Yes open the plug up so you can see the end of the pin where the wire is soldered in. You dont have to remove the pin. Use a soldering iron. Melt the original solder and pull out the wire and solder in a new wire. The boot is silicone so you wont melt it if you use a soldering iron.

    mep-003a teardown and refurb

Quick followup on that capacitor i changed on the dc voltage regulator. Everything seems fine and the system charges properly. Seems to be working fine and cost $3.

new use for one of my toys...pretty cool!!

john that would be fantastic. if all the gaskets are small enough to fit on a flatbed scanner then you could just scan them as a black and white image at 300dpi resolution then just email me each pic. the image needs to be kept full size. if any of them are bigger than a scanner then i would...

haha yes, well valve cover gaskets wont be in short supply lol. now that i got that worked out i can do pretty much any gasket on the machine. just scan the part, lay it out and cut. i want to get some decent gasket material though. this was just some cheap stuff for the test

    MEP 002A Newbie

im sure there are a few guys on the site that can help you out with a new wire harness. if its only a few wires that are bad you can unsolder them from the canon plug and replace them individually
