I've successfully used the Telebyte 65A RS-232 to 20ma loop signalling converter to talk to the TT-98 etc. in the GRC-142 shelter. Bit of a learning curve (which I have no shortcuts for) - but it lets you essentially use the teletype not only as an output printer, but you can send *back* to...
Now that Uncle has decided to release a bunch of these I have an NOS one but less the HDD caddy same as everyone else.
Did anyone ever create a pinout? I was hoping the thing would be SATA but no such luck. I see someone back aways said they managed to USB boot it with Puppy Linux but on mine...
For people playing along at home...I used every trick in the black bag to get Win XP on it but got nothing but BSOD, which is really strange because I can put XP on anything and everything else the same way. Didn't investigate further. I'll wait until the Bottle-of-Scotch network comes up...
Lol yeah...ha. I've used Unix flavors back to the HP-UX days so if someone can get the touchscreen drivers to behave under some flavor of Linux -- I'll be all over it. Maybe I'll set up some dual-boot arrangement with Win 10. Messing with VM stuff is not something I'll be into while I still...
Okay, so - a few weird things with the serial ports. Win 10 doubled up on the same names (i.e. two COM 1 ports, two COM 2 ports) in Device Manager even though they all got different IRQs. So, I went in and renamed them COM 1 through COM 7 in order.
In the literature, 'COM A' is supposed to...
No. I haven't looked into it too seriously yet. Based on what everyone else said I was thinking of installing XP to see if it would come up with working drivers and may still try that on another drive. I'll play with puTTY a bit too.
Next thing I want to try is to see if it recognizes the...
Got Windows 10 loaded on the SSD. Ethernet works fine (did all the updates) - USB works fine - and for giggles I set the disappearing taskbar, set the desktop icons to off - and am using an old screengrab I had of an FBCB2 in operation as a desktop :)
Display resolution seems fixed at 800x600...
The dumb thing is that with the hard-drives removed on the AN/UYK-128 family stuff, all you have left is a commercial-tier industrial computer. Nothing special about it. COTS flavored USB, drive interfaces, VGA display, keyboard - the works. It's like a 20 yr old Dell Optiplex wearing flashy...
Yes, the earlier question was hoping you'd already figured out where to pick up 12V+ because it looked like a pain in the ass -- the rest of it I mostly had worked out.
Turns out you can grab 5V+, GND and 3.3V+ right from the unpopulated 4-pin connector mount on the sub-board that contains the...
Do you have a wiring diagram of how you hooked that up to run the SATA SSD? I'm just not paying what that Ebay vendor wants for a caddy. Not happening. If I have to remove the 132,456 little black screws again...I guess I will. Under protest. And probably cursing gods in languages I don't speak.
I've heard from a number of others that the expected "closing out pricing"/ discounts basically...aren't. Maybe that will change as we get closer to May (or whenever) but if it were me trying to clear out that much inventory I don't think I'd wait that long to make the necessary adjustments.
Well some previous operator certainly didn't! All the pot metal in the accelerator pedal enclosure was just grenaded. It was a real mess. I have pictures somewhere of the wreckage. I wonder how many other KAT 1 trucks have suffered the same over the years? I guess one can either...
This is kind of thread-necromancery I suppose but we have this truck at work now and I have it running/ stopping properly. The three fun things were:
1) Serious asbestos removal.
2) Having to make up a replacement system for the accelerator pedal floor actuator.
3) Having to plumb in...
Well...we have the Military Communications forum with a few similar topics already so I suppose it could all be moved there. Or we could just leave it as an anomaly secure in the knowledge people can skip *on* to the posts about injector pumps and 4L80E transmissions and why every hub seal...
Bwahaha [mad scientist laugh] -- it's ALIVE!
Thanks to Jake20's pathfinding - reprogramming the BIOS brought everything back to life. There were a few false starts with the Erase routine but one of the YouTubers got it figured out after running into the same problem (primarily because the...
I've seen a couple. One looked like it was pulled out of a damaged/ rollover vehicle and had some case issues and I think the other looked okay less the hard drive and I think the door. That was probably 18 mos. ago or so. Haven't seen one since but also haven't searching too heavily lately...
I've had multiple problems with Win 10 not recognizing devices on older hardware that Win 7 recognized and installed drivers for. *Sometimes* you can force the Win 7 drivers if Device Manager at least comes back with 'unrecognized device' - but too often Win 10 just seems to ignore older...
DRS Technologies makes a rough-duty tablet of the same generation as these AN/UYK-128 systems which are also touchscreen under Windows. They show up cheap on the E-place, and I was thinking that the touchscreen driver for that thing may be the same as the one for the FBCB2s.
Given the fact so...
On the subject of USB - if you know what the SIAD attachment is (lots regularly via Ebay's "Austin Aviation"/ beltfed34) - there's another in the same form-factor which has USB slots instead of the proprietary serial connections. I've only ever seen two of them and I grabbed mine the minute one...
