Wow, that sounds like quite an adventure. A lot of good points brought up by others, so far. I've owned and maintained a deuce for 4 years now. They do require a good bit of TLC.
If your deuce is rolling on NDCC's, your planned trip will pretty much wipe them out. Also, in the case of NDCC's...
Well, we put the tailgate back on and finished tweaking the camo pattern. I ordered all new DOT reflectors that should be here in a day or two. The reflective tape is just mocked up for now, but I think I'm going to put it on after the paint cures for a couple of days.
I like it.
The days and days of rainy wet weather really slowed down the paint work. It's clear and dry again, so we're making a bit of progress now.
I may be committing some kind of sin, but I'm not painting the "proper" 3-color camo pattern. Instead, I'm matching up the patten to the cargo cover. If I...
Got the tailgate primed and base coat of 383 Green done. The hardware is soaking in a bucket of phosphoric acid. Maybe get it finished up later this week.
Yeah, the thread did die off for a while. New job, new house, and life in general had me tied up for much of the last year. I just didn't have the energy for doing much with the truck. Maybe we're getting settled back into a routine where I have time and energy to "soldier on" with things here...
It's that time of year again. It's not 95+ degrees and I feel like working on the truck. I actually put her on the market for sale for a bit, but no takers at my price, so Betty is taking us to the rally again.
I'm stripping the old paint and reflective tape from the tailgate today. I'll get...
Andy, I wish I could join you. I've been on another work project that has me going crazy. I was thinking about getting in the truck and heading that way, but I'm constrained by meeting that must happen today.
All work and no play......sucks.
Sorry I couldn't make it to PTL, today. I've been on a job up in South Carolina and I didn't make it home until mid-afternoon. I did see the 944 north bound on I-85 about 2:00, maybe 2:30. This job thing really interferes with my hobbies!
So, I'm using TapaTalk and I can see the thread, but no voting tools or options. Do I just call out my vote in a post, or is there a voting button somewhere that I can't see while using a mobile app?
I concur. I have enough chains to chain up 6 tires. We had just enough ice last winter to play around. Without chains, the deuce was slippin' and slidin', along with everything else on the road. After putting on the chains, it was unstoppable; hills, side slopes, curves, all with no problem. You...
I do prefer it a little cooler for camping, but I agree that moving the rally into November would put us on standard time and it gets dark early. It's also nice to have it warm if you do get wet or muddy, as opposed to cold, wet and muddy. And speaking of wet, it tends to be more frequently...
Just some more thoughts on the info board:
1. Trail ride schedules are very likely to change due to a variety of factors including weather, mechanical issues, and recovery delays. A fixed and published schedule would fall apart very quickly. The trail ride schedule is dynamic and would be...
Wireless is the business I'm in and I build cellular networks for all of the carriers. The temporary towers referred to above are called COWs, or Cell On Wheels. They are carrier specific and really expensive to deploy. The biggest problem with using COWs out there at D'Town is the lack of...
The weak and missing communications infrastructure at Durhamtown is a problem. It was made even worse by the loss of Durhamtown's radio repeater due to lightning.
Given the very large area involved, I think the idea of a status and information board located near the registration tent is...
I was thinking about the dry erase board idea as well, Drew. That way people could just walk up and see the plan for at least the next few hours, without having to chase down someone that might have an answer about dinner or the next trail ride.
What about having the "key people,"...
