I bought a set of these "Internal Pipe Wrenches" for about $12 at Home Depot. The one for 3/4" pipe worked just fine to extract the broken piece of tubing from the oil filter boss. Of course, I discovered that it was not in there very tight like I thought it was. I was expecting that to be a...
Thanks, Ron. I'm ordering a Inside Pipe Wrench set. And, I'm taking the opportunity to upgrade to a spin-on filter kit. I'm hoping the pipe extractor will back the piece out.
I've got what could be a major problem. I was changing the oil and filters and the oil filter canister bolt snapped off in the block. It's easy enough to buy another can canister, but getting that piece of threaded tube out of the block is another story. Man, I really don't need this right now...
I cobbled up a simple carrier for my tow bar. I was just working with some scrap lumber and some big nails as I don't have the proper hardware here this morning. This is more of a prototype and I'll build a proper one soon.
The permanent one will have a space for safety chains and towing lights.
Got up early and fixed the right middle hub. I saw the same problem as the left rear hub; the tab was broken off of the outer seal and the seal has apparently been spinning with the bearing to some degree. Too tight? Not tight enough? Maybe just a crappy part?
At least it's fixed again.
Only 73 days left before SSGR14, so I decided to soldier up and get at least one of the leaking hubs fixed today. My son and I managed to get a lot of yard work done, exercised the dogs and still got the left rear hub completed.
The best I could figure out, the locking tab on the outer seal...
Well, there's about 79 days left on my calendar before my roll-out for the rally. As usual, this time of year is a busy time in my business, and I've become so swamped I can barely see daylight. I spent the first 3 months or so fixing small problems and basically just getting established at...
I remember a guy in northwest Mississippi back in the late 70's that had a 72/73 ford bronco with paddles welded to the wheels. The paddles were cut to match the radius of the wheels. I saw it slogging through mud that was headlight deep once and doing it well. I'm not sure of the power plant...
I love that sound as well. I've thought about buying another deuce and putting a Detroit 2-stroke in it just for the sound. I don't think the power band work very well in the deuce, certainly not with the original transmission.
With the cost and effort required to do that project properly, I'd...
There is a member here that sells OD kits for the deuce. Search, but I think it's M35-Tom.
I don't know how much power you want, but you can turn the fuel up quite a bit on the multi-fuel. Install a pyro so you can monitor and manage the cylinder temperature.
There are several members here...
Hey, that's my video! That was my very first rally and it resulted in me buying a deuce a few weeks later.
I agree that stock deuces are awesome. I am strictly keeping mine original and authentic.
However, I've seen some very creative and well done mods. Sometimes it's more about seeing...
Holy crap!! I think I would be camped out in a padded room by now. Did you break a mirror or something??
I'm very glad that you and wife are not injured. I sincerely hope you make it home safely and without further incident. Get comfortable on the back porch and start drinkin'!
Boy, a lot happened since I went to bed last night! Clinto, sorry to hear of the troubles on the road. I'm in Florida this weekend and much too far away to be of any help.
Best of luck to you and I hope you get safely back on the road today.
D-Turbo with Dynomax here. Sounds great. It's easy to hold a conversation in the cab. I wouldn't go back to straight pipe. I notice it greatly reduces fatigue on longer trips.
