The first RT-1209s without the 19 pin connector needed an additional interface box called an RT-1444 installed before they could be used in the GRC-206 setup and controlled via the GRC-206 remote. This box installs between the front panel of the RT-1209 and the rest of the chassis, and then the...
I found two HYP-57s through Ebay vendor Austin Aviation, who also has the pre-SINCGARS brackets to hold the KY-57/HYP-57 combination (MT-4626 - the two he lists now even have the later guards fitted.) I bought the two HYP-57s he has and one of the battery boxes he lists for the KY-57s in case...
Glow plugs, more than likely, as everyone else has said. If you're going to try and start it with starter fluid, disable the glow plug circuit (pull the card out of the black box hanging up above the fuse box) first, then use just the slightest whiff of starting fluid - you shouldn't even be...
Another known problem with the CUCVs. There's a round sensor in the filter base just behind the filter with a couple of wires coming off of it, and the stupid things start leaking. They're a press-fit critter and you can get replacements from - I think - Front Line Military Vehicles (FLMV)...

Yeah. The silver underdash starter relay (mounted beside two Bosch black square relays on a bracket right behind your ashtray door) is a known problem. Supposedly the ones that the dealers and jobbers stock now are better quality ones than the OEM ones that the vehicles came with originally...
Also sounds like pump timing to me. The diesel places don't use a 'timing light' per se (which is why they said it sounded like you "didn't know what you were talking about") but instead use a gadget that senses the injector pulse on No. 1 which indicates the injector has reached pop-off...
Also looking for HYP-57s
I could use a couple of them too if anyone has any spare, or pointers to same. Murphy has the HYP-5s but they'll only work with the LST-5 stuff, and the usual suspects like American Milspec, Fair Radio and BPB Surplus don't have any listed.
For the information of...
