Thanks GrizzlyEater. Your kind words are appreciated.
I've been working a lot and it seems like it has rained nearly every day, so I haven't been able to do much with the truck for 6 or 7 weeks now.
I'll post more when I'm able to make some more progress with it.
I removed the plug valve from the truck, disassembled it and cleaned it up. There was a fair amount of green and white corrosion. I polished up all of the mating surfaces, lubed it with Teflon grease, and reinstalled it.
I also finished replacing the air hose to the gauge and the one to the...
The leak is small enough that it doesn't prevent driving the truck. I have been driving it that way for a year and a half. I didn't even know it was leaking until I started looking for leaks last weekend. I was hoping to get the system to hold air for more than a few hours without leaking down...
It's not leaking from the connections. It's actually leaking out where the valve handle comes out of the valve body. I don't see a way to tighten that, but I haven't pulled it out of there and worked on it just yet. It's just a valve that feeds a T for hose couplings. I guess I could replace...
That looks pretty cool. I wish it was closer but as it is, MN is a long way from home.
Michael built another one and a cool display for it. I'm sure he would do well in MN if we could get there.
Ok guys, the service air valve under the passenger dash is leaking around the "on/off" handle. It makes foam and bubbles pretty bad when sprayed with soapy water.
I want to replace it but I can't find it on any parts list and it doesn't seem to be on any of the air system diagrams in the...
I routinely start mine with the jug on the stack. It blows off and lands in the grass. Then I don't have to climb up to take it off. I just pick it up as I'm doing my final walk around inspection as the engine warms up.
You know, that's what I was thinking but SHE probably doesn't care what we think.
I've got it looking good though. Tell clintogf that next time, I'm buying the paint package and the extended warranty!
I scrambled around Saturday to get my seats back in. I took my wife to see the Alabama concert on Saturday night, but still crawled out of bed at 6:00 Sunday morning to get my truck washed (in the rain), rousted my son out of bed so we'd have time to stop for breakfast, and had the truck warming...
Cindy, with the Hall County Animal Shelter is going to meet us at J&J Foods in the morning. If you're thinking about doing this, come on out. I'm hoping to see a lot of trucks and we'll have a good time, rain or shine.
I talked to the folks at the Hall County Animal Shelter this afternoon and the event is still on for Sunday. There is a 40% chance of showers, but they have not cancelled the Touch a Truck event.
They have my number and promised to call if anything changed.
If you can make it, I'm still...
The Hummer seats aren't going to work without some fabrication and welding. The original seats are going back in tonight. I'll have to get an adapter plate made up to adapt the mounting bolt patterns between the seats and the truck. The seats have mounting bolts on a 10" x 10-1/4" pattern and...
I got home at 6:30 and by 7:00 I had the old seats out of the truck and sitting in the driveway.
By 7:15 I discovered the new Hummer seats are not drop ins. At 7:15:30 I officially cussed Dan for the first time on this project. It was just a mild cuss word, muttered quietly to myself, but it...
