From personal experience getting those caps off is a bear. Lost a U joint on a trip. Luckily the M944 drive shafts are mounted with bolt on flanges. Taking the drive shaft off was a breeze. Gona spray the cups with penetrating oil during my Pm's so they come out easy next time.
OK here is plan...
The plate is plug welded to the cup. Be careful not to pull the plate off the cup. Soaking in PB blaster or Liquid wrench if you have time might help. Spinning the cup with huge pliers of hammer to loosen, again be careful not break the plate off. Be careful not to loose the needle bearings...
I've tried to gather all the grounding bonding info from the site. Correct me if I'm wrong. Basically your are supposed to have only one ground. Generator hooked to the house ground through the house system . Running independently the generator must be grounded on its own . I read the...
The main switch is in fact The main breaker rated at the panel ampacity. I agree that although possible the beaker could fail and not open it must be constructed pretty fail safe or death could occur.
Again a transfer switch costs up to $400.00 VS. $60.00 for an interlock.
It must be bad solonoid season. Took me 4 days 3/4 tank of fuel to diagnose a 24V over current issue. Shorting solonoid with heat. There are two interwoven coils It takes more ompf to pull the coil than to hold it. When the coil is pulled in a set of contacts open dropping one of the coils...
I was reading the instruction label on a 8K Chinese generator. It had numerous beakers. The instructions said to individually turn the breakers on one at a time starting with the highest load. I understand the logic behind this. If the power has been off for a while things like the...
I plumbed all my together with nylon tube up the intake stack finishing in a 90 deg turn looking down. Be sure to leave enough slack for axle movement.
Just took the solenoid apart. O.M.G. If there was any doubt that was the problem they are completely erased.
It is a very interesting configuration. The are two inter-wound coils. To pull the plunger both coils are used. To maintain hold one coil is dropped out by a set of contacts released...
Update.....
I'll start at the end it is the Governor/Fuel/Shut Off solonoid. An internal short increasing as temperature increases. It took over 3/4 tank of fuel and 4 days on and off, mostly on testing. Not being able to get the master switch removed from the panel to get to the lugs to test...
Mep003 control breaker update
Mep003 update
Here is an update to my CB2 DC control beaker popping. The Genset needs to run between 5 to 45 minutes before it pops. So I have to wait that amount of time for every test iteration. Thank God and Coffey1for my Fluke meter. It has a max hold...
Last time I got one I went to the Mack dealer. showed them the old governor and asked if they had one. He walked right to the bin. Price was reasonable,
exact match.
Your diagnostics process is spot on, 2 stars :-)
Phunny you should ask. The ramps belong to my neighbor and was a major butt head after I borrowed them. I took measurements and pics before returning them. Will post.
