Kermit is ready
Kermit is ready M944 (Mother of Mog) is not. Was hoping to work on the M944 yesterday but the weather was horrific. Looks like Ken is going to pick us up on the way.
Looking for two 7" 24V hi/low beam pronged headlights for Kermit. Can adapt pigtail stye. would prefer NOS.
Quantity of male Packard terminals. Have bunches of female.
1 each inner and outer rear axle bearings and races. couple of rear hub/axle flange gasket. couple hub to axle housing...
Ken and I had the pleasure of test driving some HMMWV's during his M1061 recovery. All of them where in very rough shape. Driver position was l uncomfortable, tiny seat tiny steering wheel. No slant backs.
I'm having a bad day today. M944 is down. Your bracket seems to be the right one. the can is to the right of the steering box looking down into the engine not the left. I strongly urge you to tighten every thing that takes a wrench after you clean it up especially all the air lines. Lubricate...
I understand that there are systems that regulate fuel flow to load to rpm. There is probable a bad ass word for this. If when you stomped the accelerator and if the flow was immediately maxed you'd get all kinds of black smoke. So the adjustment for all this is where you would get the lean...
Not looking good for the M944. some kind of funky noises coming from the rear diffs, u-joints, axle bearings, brakes at speed. Will post in 5 ton section.
Luckily when I had to tilt I didn't need the brackets. I didn't have to lift very high to sneak in to do what I had to do. If you don't get the bracket dim you can figure it out by function. The purpose of the brackets is to lift the cab to get around the rubber cab mounts .
I use a ratchet...
Put me down for chow. Tentative plan is to show up Friday late morning w/M944/M1061 and Kermit da Mog.
I don't plan on moving the M944 once I get there If you com guys want to put a stinger on top of the flag pole M944 makes a great ground plane. also plan on bringing the tenting.
I personally stay away from a 15 psi warm oil pressure look at it as a minimum acceptable number. It will only go down as mileage increases. Start feeling cofortable at 30 psi warm idle. An example correct oil pressure statement should read something like : 30 PSI 700 rpm 110F.
A wire wheel on a 4-1/2" angle grinder might be a better choice to remove the rust. You can get into nook and crannies, not to be confused with grannies, and catch the lead screw. Greasing the parts before re-assemble would be my choice. Keep in mind that vise rides right in front of the vehicle...
Can you pull the vise open by hand? if not it is stuck closed and was forced trying to open messing up the collar. That collar is supposed to open the vise with not too much force. If it is stuck you can apply a liberal amount of oil on the slides let soak then smack the casting area between the...
Wouldn't you think that if the torque converter is defective you would have the supplier pay for and/or fix the torque converter? If the torque converter supplier paid for the ABS upgrade then fine. It looks like it went from a tremendous out lay to a tremedious profit.
Seriously if anybody...
We all know at this point that the ABS upgrade was to resolve the torque converter not unlocking during a panic stop. The $50,000 question is why not get the vendor to fix the "defective" torque converters. The answer may lie in who paid for the upgrade the vendor or Mr./Mrs./Ms. Taxpayer. Does...
