Tulsa made a bunch of winches. I've seen them everywhere from 6,000lb to 100,000lb. Without a pic or data plate info, it would be impossible to tell what you've got.
You've got me there, I never have fooled with a Jake on a electronically controlled engine.
I never have seen a set of Jakes that had any control over the turbo either as mentioned in the link you posted. Didn't know they did that.
The ones I've dealt with only consisted of a solenoid assembly...
From my understanding, the GM 8.2 isn't the greatest engine. I think they had a lot of head and head gasket problems. Having said that, my Uncle has one in a C60 he uses on the farm that hasn't gave him any trouble but it only sees light use.
I wouldn't be apposed to dropping one in a deuce but...
A Jake brake doesn't shut the fuel off, it just goes to a idle setting. A Jake brake isn't connected to the fuel injection system in any way on any of the engines I've seen (Cat, Cummins, and Mack's Dynatard), other than the brake cut off switch on the accelerator rod. The reason for the brake...
They shouldn't have been metric.
Somebody may have stripped the threads and re-tapped them metric. 10-32 and M5 are awfully close to the same. 10-32 is .19" dia and M5 is .2" dia. so the M5 is roughly .010" bigger.
An exhaust brake is unlikely to put more stress on the engine than it would be under power.
Even a full fledged engine brake (Jake brake) doesn't put any undue stress on the engine. They never made one for a multifuel anyway.
That may be what mine is because the Generator head doesn't stick out. I'll have to take a look at the data plate. I know mine does produce AC at the outlet.
I've got a Lincoln gas welder but I don't recall the model number. Looking at pics on the web, I don't think mine is the SA200 as it doesn't have the generator sticking out the back of the enclosure (mine is flush on the end where the controls are).
Only think you have to watch out for on some...
I've got a plug adaptor were I can plug my civilian truck to the m-series plug. The 24v lights will work but will be dim.
I always carry magnetic lights (with clamps) when recovering one of these trailers though. More often than not, the trailer lights will have issues so I just slap the...
It depends how you register it.
You can go with antique plates but you're limited to driving it on weekends and special events only and you can't haul cargo. Cost is a one time fee of $45 (I think) and no CDL required.
You can do what I do and register it with farm plates. You have to renew...
I had one I tried to sell for awhile. I was asking $1,000 while ones in worse shape were selling at the local GL lot bringing $1,800-$2,000. :?
Ended up having a need for it so I pulled it off the market and still have it.
Any of the name brand pyros will be ok. I went with AutoMeter just because I liked the way the gauge looked.
Just a tip on drilling and taping the manifold, do it with the engine running. I've done several this way and it will blow the chips out really good.
You can haul dirt until it's running off the sides and you'll be ok. You can get over the weight limit hauling a full load of gravel. The stock bed will work fine as long as you stay within the factory sides. Only thing you'll run into is the bed floor is fairly thin and if you haul big rock it...
I had to add a couple of gaskets when I installed my worm as just one gasket had everything too tight. Loosen the bolts on the input shaft cover and see if the winch loosens up.
Welcome.
I would ask that you please include your state in your profile. Most people wouldn't know where Centerville is, we have a Centerville, TN for instance.
A local fuel company just got in trouble putting gas/diesel mix into the tanks of 4 convenient stores. It's been all over the news with a bunch of cars with messed up fuel systems. I'm sure they will have to pump it out and dispose of it.
I'd like to get ahold of that. I don't know how much it...
