They are a great truck and kind of rare. Most seemed to be beat up pretty bad so one in decent shape has got to be even rarer.
Like Kenny said, it's hard to put a hard dollar on but it should bring a pretty good premium over a cargo of the same condition.
Also, when you do decide to list it...
I'll just be running about 20 amps max.
I'm planning on feeding it with one of those Honda inverter generators, due to the size and quietness. I've got a 003 but that's way overkill for my needs and the thing sounds like a freight train when running.
Yes, I've considered just replacing the plug and that looks like what I'll likely do.
I just assumed that all shelter plugs would be the same but evidently that's not the case.
I've been searching the web for one of these connectors but I'm not really getting anywhere.
The one in the pic is the power in port and has a brand name of "Wire Pro" but no part number that I can find.
The power out port has "Bendix 32-12" on it.
I've found several connectors that look...
Well I'm back to work on the shelter. The main priority at this point is to first get A/C and lighting. That way I can at least throw a cot in the back and get some camping in before summer is over.
I've studied all the A/C options I can think of and at this point I'm leaning towards one of...
I thought about some guides. Most winch trucks setup for oilfield work have just a big steel rod sticking up on each side of the tail roller for guides. The problem with this or the guides in your pic is that the sides of the shelter could be damaged as they aren't very heavy.I think I'll be ok...
Pulled it up fine but you can tell everything is in a pretty good strain getting the front started over the roller. I'm glad I added the center support rollers, I think they are needed for even this relatively light shelter.
I tried to pull it up in high range on the winch but that was a no-go...
If it is in fact a '85. It could be a older one with the 427 if the year is wrong. Many times these trucks are titled with the wrong year listed, it's something to verify if you can.
If it is a '85, it will be just like Gimpy said.
The split front boots are a common problem but that alone isn't of major concern, just don't drive in any deep water until fixed. When you fix, go ahead and get the one piece silicone boots. They are much better than the zipper boots and you need to tear it all down and service everything...
Well I winched the shelter onto the truck today. I haven't took a vid of it yet though.
One of the reasons I didn't take a vid is everything didn't go as smooth as I had hoped. I found out quickly that with the tight clearances between the shelter and the bed sides, you have to make sure you...
I want to hook my shelter up to generator and shore power. I know it's currently wired to 208 3ph but I'm going to rewire it for 120v 1ph. I'd like to use the existing plug though as not to have to punch another hole in the shelter.
The question is, where does somebody go about finding one of...
I think most people are a little upset because GP vehicles are selling higher than when they were sold through GL, I'm in the same boat. You're wasting your breath trying to convince Jwade that is a problem though, we are on two different sides of the issue.
GP just knows how to get more money...
I thought the whole M-series program was to standardize all the components, which included all 24v electrical.
If you happen to run across a 12v, I've also got a project I could use one on.
Well I finally got everything plumbed up and working. I haven't tried to load the shelter yet but I did hook it to the bumper of my cj5 and lifted the front of it off the ground. I also put the winch in high range, hooked the line to the bumperett, stalled the winch, and set the relief to the...
The brake's only purpose is to hold the load when you stop winching. It is supposed to release somewhat when winching in but usually it's still dragging. Any time you power out the brake is working against you.
You would have a dead short. You can't get past the fact that the positive and negative of both batteries are connected to each other in 24v series.
When you tie both negatives together in your parallel connection, you'll be shorting out the second battery.
The "website help" forum is for website issues.
No problem, I'll move it to the "Auxiliary Equipment" forum where it belongs and will get more exposure.
