    Trailer safety!!!!

John, Surely somebody did that and took the pic as a joke. I can't imagine somebody would be that stupid but in all honesty, I've seen worse.

Adding oil to fuel of m35a2

It won't hurt anything if you do though. It is a multifuel, after all.

    Newbie questions regarding brake work

Buy some 8' 6x6 post from the lumber yard and cut them up in two foot sections. Use them as cribbing to hold the truck up. Cheaper than heavy jack stands and safer if you aren't working on a hard, flat surface. Oak would be better but the treated pine you get at the lumber yard will hold a deuce...

    Mack RD822sx

I sent the VIN info to the Mack Museum and while they didn't have any info on the military record of the truck they did give me all of the factory info. They sent me the build sheet, dealer order sheet, owners manual, lube manual, engine rebuild manual, and truck maintenance manual. All free of...

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

I'll take the blame for starting the CDL debate. I guess I mistakenly thought that the debate was on the deuce and the 5-ton was settled as needing CDL. I guess the OP just needs to make sure he researches the matter fully. I'll respectfully ask that we leave the CDL debate on this thread where...

    Backwards Batteries

Let me see if I understand you, are you saying the batteries were hooked up as positive ground?

M939 is ownership practical in SoCal?

Somebody from CA can correct me if I'm wrong but I think you need a CDL for a 5-ton in CA.

    stuck in 1st gear

Sounds like it's stuck in two gears, locking the trans up. Transfer case wouldn't go into neutral?

Running a unimog engine backwards - Inadvertently

Well not the pressure plate, just the clutch disc.

Ok had a strange conversation about a 6.2 diesel putting gas 350 gas heads

GM just can't get past that old Olds engine. It's no telling how bad it hurt future diesel sales. I'm sure there are still people saying the Duramax is a converted gasser. According to the vid, it looks like they even knew it in the early '80s.

    Wheel chocks?

You can link to items for sale across the web if it pertains to the discussion at hand. You can't link to eBay or Craigslist items or any active auction items. We also ask that people post pics directly to the site and not post links to pics in a photo holding site like photobucket. This is...

    stuck in 1st gear

You should be able to get the top off the trans, even if it's stuck in gear. You may even be able to just pull the shifter and line the forks back up with a pry bar or big screwdriver. I've seen a worn shifter cause the forks to get bound up when it slips out of place. Did the trans shift fine...

Running a unimog engine backwards - Inadvertently

Just don't let it run very long like that. While most everything else will run fine in reverse, the oil pump won't. You will have zero oil pressure while the engine is running backwards.

    Issues with SF-97

I have no idea of what Jwade's motivation is for being on the site is but I do know he has been helpful in the past dealing with GP. We do need to be careful about personal attacks aimed at fellow members. If we can't keep it civil, we'll have to close the thread. Alwayssunnyinpowhatan, I...

    stuck in 1st gear

In my post above, I assumed you already tried rocking the truck while somebody holds a little pressure on the shifter. If not, try that first.

    stuck in 1st gear

More than likely something hung up in the top Cover. Pull the top off and see if you can shift it into neutral with a screwdriver.

I went to the steel store.....

You'll have to get permission from Patracy or Mr Steelsoldiers himself to make some with the Steel Soldiers logo on them. On a side note, you can't pump fuel for your truck at a regular gas station? Is it a law?

    Water in transmission

That trans doesn't look bad at all. I'd first clean up what I could without disassembly, lube with some light oil, and turn it to see how smooth it is. After that, if it turns smooth and no looseness, I'd run it.
