Buy some 8' 6x6 post from the lumber yard and cut them up in two foot sections. Use them as cribbing to hold the truck up. Cheaper than heavy jack stands and safer if you aren't working on a hard, flat surface. Oak would be better but the treated pine you get at the lumber yard will hold a deuce...
I sent the VIN info to the Mack Museum and while they didn't have any info on the military record of the truck they did give me all of the factory info.
They sent me the build sheet, dealer order sheet, owners manual, lube manual, engine rebuild manual, and truck maintenance manual. All free of...
I'll take the blame for starting the CDL debate. I guess I mistakenly thought that the debate was on the deuce and the 5-ton was settled as needing CDL.
I guess the OP just needs to make sure he researches the matter fully. I'll respectfully ask that we leave the CDL debate on this thread where...
GM just can't get past that old Olds engine. It's no telling how bad it hurt future diesel sales. I'm sure there are still people saying the Duramax is a converted gasser.

Did the trans shift fine...
Just don't let it run very long like that. While most everything else will run fine in reverse, the oil pump won't. You will have zero oil pressure while the engine is running backwards.
I have no idea of what Jwade's motivation is for being on the site is but I do know he has been helpful in the past dealing with GP.
We do need to be careful about personal attacks aimed at fellow members. If we can't keep it civil, we'll have to close the thread.

You'll have to get permission from Patracy or Mr Steelsoldiers himself to make some with the Steel Soldiers logo on them.
On a side note, you can't pump fuel for your truck at a regular gas station? Is it a law?
That trans doesn't look bad at all. I'd first clean up what I could without disassembly, lube with some light oil, and turn it to see how smooth it is. After that, if it turns smooth and no looseness, I'd run it.
