Those beams are forged steel and you should be able to weld them with no problem.
However rather modify them I would get some rod ends, bungs, and some tubing
and build a new set, but the price of cutting and welding is much cheaper.

Looking at buying a pallet or two from Redstone Arsenal in the next few weeks. Who down that way can make a pickup for me and be available to let me pick it up over a weekend?
Thanks
Tom
The M35 and I'm sure other military trucks all use White Oak for spacers.
It's not as prone to rotting as other woods are and can handle a lot of weight.
I'm sure the government spent millions figuring out which wood to use.

If your just playing around with it like I'm doing then air ride is fine.
Also adding the shocks to the rear will give your more stability your talking about.
Now if your 100 miles out in the middle of nowhere and a bag blows out your in trouble.
Have you looked at "Dirtygrunts" air ride...
The M35 uses a 3.00" hub socket and a M105 trailer uses a 3.375" hub socket.
Therefore I'm guessing that the M105 may in fact have larger bearings than a M35 does.
Look at the TM for an M35 and several trailers you might find a hub that would work.

Well mine took 39 days.

Not to rain on your parade, but there are several guys on SS that already make these plates CNC'd for at lot less money and I think there using 1/2" plates not 3/8" to build them.
Good Luck

I'm sold on using the Peterbilt Air Leaf Suspension and forget about using springs.

You can dump the bags and drop the backend down.
Super nice looking setup.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm well aware of what you might get from GL.
I go up to Indianapolis and look at the junk from time to time.
I'm not opposed to a private sell if I could find a fair price on one, but I like the adventure and the story you can tell with GL purchases.

He's not interested in what is right or what it wrong with putting the large tires on the narrow rims. But this is the way most people are today. You think if he owned an airplane he would also put the wrong tires and rims on it?
Tom
I think the most common, hot set up is running a 395/85 with HEMTT rims.
This allows the average guy the ability to safely and quickly change a tire on the the truck with out removing the back half of the rim from the truck.
Now there are guys on here that have all different combinations of...
Any SS members here on base at Fort Gordon?
Interested in a couple M35A2's there getting ready to sell off.
Not interested in buying a problem child.
Thanks Tom
Cheap is not usually associated with tires and rims on a deuce together.
If you truely want 14.00 tires then you need $$$ rims.
You might just want to buy tires and rims from Clint.
395/85 tires or 14.00 need larger rims and HEMTT rims are the way to go
If you want to go cheap right now...
I recently purchased a M105 trailer in Indianapolis myself. I'm still waiting for the EUC to clear so I can pick it up. Has your EUC cleared yet?
I live a hour west of Indianapolis just off I-70 and might be able to help you get it to St.Louis depending on when you need it or when it gets...
The only way you could make a aluminum wheel strong enough to work on a deuce is by pressure die casting it. A reqular poured wheel would never be strong enough for it to ever last. My father is a retired engineer with General Motors and he designed aluminum wheels for years. I grew up in the...
