Gun Truck - Did you see the post about the big Spring meet moving to Plymouth, CA in 2019? Did you go? I don't remember ever seeing a gun truck at our big meets. Strange. I mean the 5 ton or deuce types. We had to cancel the 2020 Spring and Fall events due to Amador County virus rules for...
Kurt contacted me to point out these meets actually started in the 1970s in Buttonwillow and he went to the 1977 one. That was 8 years before I got into the hobby and club. I was aware that there were events in the San Joaquin Valley before Patterson, when people like John Anderson, Dana Zwang...
A few points about this event.... It is open to anybody, it's not just a MVCC member event. And it is not only a campout which is what that campsite reservation form Kurt mentioned is for. Day visitors are welcome at no charge and parking is free. The parking lot and entrance to the...
Note to turbo installers. Always prime the turbo with oil right before installation. Squirt it in the inlet and watch it come out the drain, then attach the lines.. Same goes for the oil supply line. A dry line and bearing housing takes a number of seconds to fill when the engine starts up and...
Have you run the truck with the replacement turbo? Did you fix what killed the last one? Could have been hit by a foreign object left in the manifold by a mechanic, or an engine part. Melted blades can look similar unless you know what you are looking at.
Radial play can be felt. It's less when...
That turbo PN is a BorgWarner and designed for LD-465 but there could have been other turbos specified over the years. It plus the CHRA (cartridge) part numbers are still in their system. I haven't asked if they have any stock at BW. If that is the turbo you want replaced I could check.
Boost...
Great background, thanks. But what about Omaha? There is some interesting military history there and maybe some sites for tours. Or other cities bigger than where you are. These conventions need to go to all parts of the country and even though your area is not too far from past convention...
67th Armored was a regiment. It used to be 67th Infantry Regiment (Medium), meaning medium tanks, and on 15 July 1940 was redesignated 67th Armored Regiment (Medium) when it was assigned to 2nd Armored Division. On 1 January 42 they dropped the "(Medium)." Fought in North Africa, Sicily, landed...
Odd ending, seems like a post about the virus and government cancelling the event is not there.
GUNNUT you have the organizational skills and energy to help lead a MVPA convention. I don't know how many volunteers there are in your area but most jobs will be event week so possibly volunteers...
The April 2020 Plymouth meet has been cancelled due to the virus. See the news on the event post over on Upcoming Events.
See you at the September Plymouth version. Scheduled for Sept 15-20, 2020.
And BTW, most people don't leave on Saturday at these meets. Some do because they have to drive...
Yes look for a leak between turbo compressor and engine intake. Unfortunately you might not hear or feel it when idling or blipping throttle because boost develops under load. A boost gauge will tell the tale when driving it. I don't know if there is a charge-air cooler (intercooler) on these...
THE CAMP PLYMOUTH SPRING 2020 MEET HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE VIRUS. SEE NEWS ON THE EVENT POST ON UPCOMING EVENTS FORUM.
Raffle will be done at a later date.
Here is an announcement dated 3/13/20 from the MVCC President:
From MVCC HQ
At 9:34 pm March 13, the Board of the MVCC voted to officially cancel the Camp Plymouth Spring Meet. I spoke to the county health department this morning to see if there was any way the club could hold the meet...
Wow, first time I was called honorable. Thanks! But does that mean I can't buy an item at Camp Plymouth for $10 and put it on my table for $20?
Lostforwords, if you don't mind letting people know you are looking for one, put "wanted" posts in the appropriate SS forum and on G503.com. Say you...
