If you all would like a better forum for GTB talk, ask the owner to create one. Seems like a Trucks 1/2 Ton to to 1 1/2 Ton forum would be good. Merge with the Dodge one. Or Small Trucks Non-Dodge?
Price has everything to do with how solid the frame and sheet metal is. Rust-through or not? Tweaked frame? Welded fixes? Also your own skills. If you will do all the work, great, but if not then you should buy it on the low side. The incorrect motor usually hurts resale but if this one has more...
Updated original post with info about a military vehicle excursion on Thursday morning. Also a slightly different procedure for booking a site at the RV Village.
Forum is a great idea. The munitions and MV hobbies attract similar people and the forums will probably cross promote each other. Attract new people into both. Guns and ordnance, whether live or deact or movie prop can be vehicle accessories. No different than radios.
I have a question though...
Sonoma Valley Airport in the wide spot in the road called Schelleville between Sonoma Raceway and town of Sonoma is hosting another "cars and coffee" type event with a twist - it will be on a runway and taxiway and include classic and ex-military airplanes! There are many based at this airport...
The Camp Plymouth FALL swap meet and MV show is scheduled for September 7, 2021 through Saturday the 11th. It is promoted by the Military Vehicle Collectors of California. Location is 49er Village RV Resort, 18265 Hwy 49, Plymouth, CA 95669, and Amador County Fairgrounds for the tent campground...
This is not an AM General convention, it just has a significant theme about AM General and their legacy brands. The show is for any ex-military vehicle and people who like them. And unlike shows for other types of vehicles, MV events connect with military veterans. Many, perhaps most vets enjoy...
FYI there is another swap meet in Plymouth. Same type of event, normally half the size. We here it might be bigger than the 2019 version because people are still stir-crazy for events, especially the ones who didn't make the trip to the April meet. Despite that it was one of the biggest!
For sale is something you don't see every day. Visual Identification Equipment AN/VVX-1X strobe light, power supply, spare parts, and 1944 dated manual. From the manual: "This equipment is designed to deliver and extremely bright flash of light at a rate of approximately 1 flash per 1 1/2...
For those who didn't reserve a RV site when the discounted event block of sites was available, like Kurt said if you want a site at the 49er Village you should ask them for the group discount. Doesn't hurt! You should know that our deal was $53, not $65 which appears on our reservation form...
I don't think so. This would be as good a place as any to talk about that. Sellers in particular draw people from a long ways away so if pro or amateur vendors want to mention the kinds of things you will be bringing for sale, that's great. It grows attendance.
Remember to check the...
OK. Here are a couple images from 2019 and the current flyer. We always have a couple themed showcases. The jeep one drew 65 jeeps and there were probably 10-12 elsewhere in camp not attending because the owners were selling or buying parts, or otherwise distracted. This year we are featuring...
The flyer above has been edited. Note the addition of four awards:
Longest Distance Travelled
Longest Distance Travelled Driving a MV
Longest Distance Travelled Transporting a MV
Hard Luck Award (getting ready or travelling to the meet, or if no candidates, hard luck at the meet. Missing out on...
Old thread. When switching turbos around it's best to find someone with experience doing it on these engines. Ideally ask around and locate a truck with an engine/turbo combination that works really good and try to copy it. Learn what part number the turbo is off its data plate. I can tell you...
This is probably the best thread for it.
There are event details up on www.MVCCNews.net in the calendar area. The interactive map is not updated due to some churning of sites but by April 1 you will see which participants are in what site at the RV Village and the adjacent fairgrounds...
