Not a bead lock, it is a combat rim. Bead locks sandwich the bead of the tire to the rim, mostly used for rock crawling or mall crawling. Combat rims are designed to take apart with common tools so the average GI in the field could repair it. Safer than a regular two piece rim but airing it up...
In the shop I used work in if someone didn't use a cage for a tube type tire they probably would have been fired, it is serious stuff
I have changed hundreds of tires and not one has come apart ever. When I got my deuce and started changing tires again I bought a cage, It is not worth the risk...
More like Rd 800's. Down under they call them Flintstones. When I was young one of my first trucks was a DM 800, not much HP, plenty of gears 18 speed twin stick and 55,000 lb. rears. I also drove a RD 600 I liked the center cab better than the offset.
