Ghostdriver got a few more parts moved from one engine to the other. 1st photo is old engine missing more stuff and 2nd photo is that stuff on new engine.
I don't care where your from, that's funny!!!:funny:Ghostdriver had several Jaguars and still has a cabriolet. I Know she will find this almost as funny as when she discovered her fuel was being run through the air conditioner to cool it down to avoid vapor lock.
Cranetruck, did you notice if he had the fold out seat/ step in the back? Both of the M43's we have to work with have the seats with the step bar that rests on the two supports on either side of the pintle. The bar hits the pintle (unless the support is the plate like thing pictured on Zouts...
We picked up a parts M43 and M37 a while back and the M43 has the seat/step the same as Ghostdriver's M43. There is a cross brace that would interfere with a pintle. Yours and the Canadian M43 uses a plate brace that has a scoop cut out to miss the pintle. Many years ago I converted my M37 to a...
It appears the Canadian M43 may be what Zout has to work with as the step set up looks exactly the same with the notch to fit around the pintle. I note there is a trailer wiring connection as well. I think the rear screen and screen door are really interesting as well. I have never seen...
I rechecked My TM and ORD manuals again (dated May 1955 and January of 1954) and there is no mention or listing for an external resistor. Same result for the 1960 edition of TM 9-2320-212-20P. TM 9-8031-2 issued May of 1953 does not cover the distributor. While I have never encountred an...
Looking at Zout's earlier pictures, it appears very proffessionally installed to work with the seat/step or was original. Maybe his unit started life as something more than an ordinary ambulance.
Ghostdriver had the same question, and I have done a bunch of photo searching and cannot find any photos of M43's with pintles. In fact I can't find any military ambulances with a means to tow. On the M43, the fold down seat step would bang into the pintle. Ambulances seem to be single purpose...
TGP (IL) mentioned the air tubes and that does make a large difference on how hot the coil get while running. These coils are incased in a sealed distributor system and the distributor has a vent system that pull air across the coil to cool it. I have seen an M37 with the vent system capped off...
A quick diagnostic check can be performed by measuring the voltage across the series battery pack with a volt or multi meter of some kind. At rest (engine not running and all accessories off) the voltage should be something over 24 (25 or so) While observing the volt meter, have someone start...
Ghostdriver told me this am that you were kicking back a bit on this project reporting. I guess I have been one of those readers who wasn't posting back. Your thread and the progress has been a terrific read. Sorry I did not add something along the way. ~~~ There aren't many active M37 projects...
I was a franchised electric car dealer back in the late 70's and the contacts used were heavy duty. We usually had failures in the contact points or buttons rather than anything else. My rebuilds involved the replacement of those components. Others would sell new solenoids, while we would...
As I mentioned, my work was for a firm that supplied Beryllium for use in nuclear control rods. Because of the transparency to radiation, it could be used as a part of the rod without having any impact to the control process. ~~ The first step was to mine Beryl deposits which occurred in...
Some photos of my pile o' parts. Not sure what application, but all listed as Hummer. I have researched and there seems there are several style of seats and bows depending on ??? but I could not find photos of how the bed sides and seats I have were mounted. I have a couple of different style...
Interesting information. My doubt is removed and I have saved the link. Clearly, a low percent of Beryllium may well be used in current day contactors. The low arcing properties should greatly extend the contactor life. When I was rebuilding EV contactors, the nickel and silver mixes were...
It depends on the kind of Demil required. Some things are as simple as cutting the gun barrel off and cutting parts of the breech so they cannot be re assembled. Others are like removing military radios or other equipment still currently in use.
I have heard that since Government Motors was...
Ghostdriver will be happy to see that crosses were used in theater. Short work session this morning because someone drove over the pressure washer hose (which means someone left it out where it could be driven over so we needed to run to the Parker Store for repairs and replacements.) Expect to...
I doubt it is a Beryllium alloy. Beryllium is not a widely distributed ore and must be mined in what can best be described as pot hole operations. A little here and a little there. Beryllium is used in nuclear control rod manufacture and that demand makes its cost fairly high. When I was hot and...
