Kenny, I don't know what Drew's thoughts are on it but Mangus hated it and I think he's the one that got rid of it.
I'm in the mess hall right now, all alone.
Just looked at the tag on my new HMMWV winch. It calls for Amsoil MPHD http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/other-products/cleaners-and-protectants/heavy-duty-metal-protector/ .
I don't know if that's for all the winches but the tag on my HMMWV winch calls for the Amsoil product.
All I can say is my mep-003 has done all I've ever asked it to, I don't have any experience with the others. I do know the air-cooled Onan used on the 003 is getting kind of hard to get some parts for. This engine has been obsolete on the civilian market for several years now.
A guy I know bought a deuce that had DRMO on it. I told him it ment Doesn't Run, Major Overhaul needed. Had him really worried until told him the truth.
Are you saying the winch valve is in free flow back to the tank when in the center position? This makes sense because it does power a motor in stock configuration but wouldn't work well at all with a hoist (hoist will fall when you want it to hold).
You can pick up a tandem center valve at...
The military recommends a Amsoil product, it think. There is a tag on the winch line of my new HMMWV winch that tells what they say to use. The winch is not with me at the moment. I'll report back what the tag says.
That's what they are trying to do, retail prices without retail responsiblity. On the surface, it looks like you're buying a good item, but when you read the fine print, you realize that you may be getting a pile of parts.
I've all but quit surplus buying. I'll still throw out a bid on GL from...
There are several options for this. Sissor hoist, dual ram, telescoping.
Sissor hoist is probably the simplest but are the lighter duty of the three.
The dual ram under the bed is a good option but I found when adding a dump to my deuce that the Rams would interfere with the front tandem...
It can be done but there's a little more to it than just tying into the existing system. I do it right, you'll need to either replace your current winch valve or feed it with another valve with a power beyond port. The simplest thing to to would be to remove your current winch valve and replace...
The cast manifold is pretty easy to thread, just drill it the proper size and use a good cutting oil and you shouldn't have any problems. I like to have the truck running when I drill and thread as to blow all the shavings out.
Back when I was selling deuces, I would show a truck to a prospective buyer that was used to modern manual transmissions and they would claim there was something wrong with the trans and couldn't shift it when I let them drive. I'd move over into the drivers seat and shift it fine.
I'm not...
