It may be tough getting a definitive part number for a lift "kit". Companies lump the parts together on a website page in a group but when ordering, all of the components have individual part numbers that need to be ordered individually. Different folks go to different lengths when lifting a...
Dave, the x over on the 1028 in your link looks great! That's the way i'd like to go so I can move the axle where I want it to avoid some fender contact. I contacted ORD and put a hold on the backordered drop pitman arm. I might as well do the steering while I've got things apart instead of...
That's a great offer Dave! You are certainly close enough. I should probably just be thinking about switching direction now before messing with a temporary drop pitman arm that's on backordered anyway.
Thanks for the help and opinions on the steering. I wanted to limit the down time and get the truck drivable again quickly. Not to mention the money aspect. Sounds like I had better be planning on crossover setup as a near future project. Since the pitman arm is backordered the switch may come...
Anyone do this successfully? I was planning on moving my front axle forward 1 1/2" with zero rates under 4" lift springs but heard that you can't without going to crossover steering. ORD says you can by cutting the drag link. Anyone doing it this way? Thanks.
Ill hang tight I guess. Ordered it a few weeks ago and heard it may be another month off o so. Guess I could get working on the rest of it and see how it goes.
Well I'd sure rather be a friend than foe. I just want a high quality lift for this truck and I'm looking forward to starting work on it once the rest of the parts arrive. If I have future issues I'd like to be able to talk and get help. I am still looking forward to this project because his...
Yes that DOES explain a lot! Chris seemed OK until he stopped communication but BY FAR the two rudest ones there are Denise and Stephen. She got defensive immediately on the first call and now there's no chance at a civil conversation with her even when I ask for one right at the beginning...
Well UPS never showed Friday. Denise put the wrong address on the call tag. Why do I have this feeling it was not an honest mistake? At this rate it will be fall before I get my ORD lift kit put on. Won't feel much like bragging it up when anyone asks...
I'm confident they will send me the right springs. UPS is supposed to pick these up tomorrow. What scares me is if I have any problems with the product after installation. They are so mad about this spring exchange that I doubt I would get any kind of support from them.
Live and learn I guess. That wild have come in handy right about no. I paid with m debit card so they've already been paid. I'm sure this will get resolved, it's just turned into way more of an ordeal than it should have.
The saga continues. They emailed me a UPS tag (I don't have a printer) but would not pay for UPS pickup. That meant a 50 mile round trip to go to the "big city" to drop these off once I found a printer. UPS suggsted I call the company to have them correct the pickup instructions. I was luckily...
Well so far NOT so good dealing with ORD. I just got my 4" lift from them through FedEx along with a zero rate kit, with all of the fixin's. Greasable bushings, HD shackles, shocks, brake lines, the whole thing, except I haven't ordered the zero rate for the rear yet until I see if I'm going to...
Thanks for your comments truck1. All good suggestions. I did do a few searches on here about the lift process. I plan on installing a U bolt flip and a rear zero rate as funds allow but I want to get it together as is to figure out if I need to re-shim the axle first. Then I'll crack it loose...
Thanks. That seems like the best idea. The intention when buying this old heap was to save money not spend a ton of money on it. I am really enjoying it though. It's a cool old truck and suits my needs mote than my HD did. :-P
Thanks. Since I'm on a tight budget now after the truck's purchase price and the lift kit, I'll see how things go with the stock springs but when the U bolts come off later, I will be considering different springs. Tires / wheels are my next expense. Good used 16" tires seem hard to come by in a...
I appreciate your input. I don't mind how my 1008 rides unless I'm on some poor roads as I often am on the way up north. The back end is so stiffly sprung that the back axle just likes to skitter around side to side on the chatters. Pretty annoying.
I'll probably just throw the rear flip...
I am getting ready to install an ORD 4" lift with rear shackle flip. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the rear factory springs with some lighter duty units to get a better ride and better off road performance?
