Tom, thanks. I've been letting the clutch all the way out, pushing it back in and waiting for the gears to slow down before shifting into 2nd. I'll try your technique.
Steel, I was wondering about that too- even when it does go into 2nd it feels rough and it's a bit of a battle to get it into...
Hey guys, since all the experts are here together I have a question:
I bought my A2 in March and it has always been difficult to shift into 2nd.
This occurs when starting from a stop. (Yes I've read the pros & cons of doing this)
Sometimes I need to let the clutch out (while in neutral) then put...
Thanks guys!!
I have all the TM's and when I looked up the parking brake I found the diagrams and procedures. That part is pictured but i didn't see it mentioned or identified. I'll look deeper now that I know what it is.!
Found this today while crawling under my M35A2. It's part of the parking brake assembly. It is pictured in the TM's but it is not identified.
Can anyone tell me what it is, what does it do, is it important, how to replace, etc...?? The parking brake works fine.
Thanks!!
If it doesn't work I would check the usual sources like Erik's Military, Saturn Surplus, eBay, etc.
I replaced all the gauges in my A2 deuce and got them all from Erik's as he had the best price several months ago.

If your lenses clear up when wet, this will probably work. Don't know how the brake fluid affected the plastic on your gauges so you might test this on a gauge...
You might want to check out Durabak.
It's very tough stuff you can roll, brush or spray on. (It's a polyurethane coating)
Requires minimal prep.
I haven't used it yet but I'm going to paint the bed of my deuce with it.

There's a lot of great people on this site who won't hesitate to jump in and help
I replaced all the cab weatherstripping which helped a lot. I also use this cover which is for an outdoor love seat.
Got it at the coverstore.com. Has elastic at the bottom which keeps it from blowing away.
I had the same problem with my A2 deuce when I got it. Here's how I fixed it:
1) Get out TM 9-2320-361-20, sections 11-5 and 11-6 and review the procedure.
2) Open the access panel on the door and remove the window using the TM procedure. Then remove the regulator.
3) Clean the regulator with...
Navo, why don't you just contact the agency that does the inspections and ask them? I would think they would be the best source of accurate information.
