I am 6'-3" so I have the same problem. I had two M35's one had the spring seat and the other had the old school box seat. The box seat was by far the most comfortable for me and gave the best head and leg room. With the box seat you could change the seat cushions and gain a little space as well...
My one concern with switching is that of getting all the 10 wt out and not contaminating the ATF. Also the Alison manual for the transmission recommends the 10 wt for heavy duty use over the ATF. But I am willing to listen to peoples advise and experience.
Thanks
Ryan
Mc Master Carr has 10 wt but it does not meet the spec allison calls out for the fluid. I really don't want to switch over to the ATF as that will be a big project to flush and allison still recommends 10 wt for heavy duty use.

Well I have pulled and inspected the lock up cup off valve and all looks good there. Now I am at another stopping point not knowing where to proceed to. I am learning that Allison dealers really don't want to talk to customers. I have calls into 3 different dealers and Oshkosh directly with no...
Shoot my current DUKW in my avatar I put that many miles in the first 3 days of owning it. I drove it for 2 weeks as my daily driver to the store work even dinner.:D. That DUKW also had original tires on it when I got it and I literally drove them off of it. Since then the collection has gotten...
You are good to use those. The only thing you have to watch is they have not made goat tires for a long time. I have a set on my second DUKW with the tits still on them but the side walls are cracked bad.
Ryan
Gamma goat tires are the same size just a different load rating. A lot of dukw owners do run them since we never load the trucks down to rating. I bought 7 new dukw tires from coker for mine. At $1200 you flat out stole it. I can't wait to see the restoration thread.
Ryan
That's probably not far off for original ones. On the other hand the tour industry has got to have at least 200. Have you figured out you hull number yet. I can't remember which side it is one but it is engraved between the rear axles on the frame / hull.
Ryan
Oh and congratulations joining the heard. When you find the frame number give Steve Greenberg a call so he can add your DUKW to the registry he is keeping.
Ryan
She looks like she will live another day. It's amazing how ugly the can get and still be restored to a nice DUKW. What shape is the running gear in?
Ryan
That sounds like a good project. All in all they are a fairly basic beast and will not be to bad to bring back to life. If you need any pictures or measurements for the restoration let me know(I even have some spare parts laying around as well)
