There is always the question of "how noisy is it?" when talking about the MEPs. I have searched for actual decibel readings and haven't been able to find them so I took some myself.
My unit: MEP-002A with ASK on a M116A2 with cargo cover. It was running no load warmed up @ 60Hz 120V...
It's a dual hitch receiver here is one that looks similar but looks like there was some aftermarket renforcement on jbk's the triangle piece behing the one up right. Google dual hitch receiver and you can find more. Dual Hitch Extender & Other Dual Hitch Receivers - Harbor Freight Tools
This thread helped me out alot with my generator.

That would work but a pintle mounting plate that slid into the receiver and then the hook would bolt on to would give alot more flexibility to get the ride height right. It's the...
The loop is called a lunette. You'll need a pintle hitch for your truck. The make several styles just Google. The thing bolted to the plate in jbk's pic is a pintle hook.
As a side note I've been looking all over for a pic of your hitch glad you posted it again. Thanks[thumbzup] I am putting together something similar but am going to mount my light adapter to it too
There is a thread on here for making an adapter for the lights and changing the bulbs on the trailer. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/31824-civy-truck-mil-trailer-wiring-info.html
The brakes are air over hydraulic so you could pull it without air you just won't have trailer brakes. The...
I think what he was refering too is a requiremnt for secondary containment around the tank to contain a spill. The reason you see above ground tanks tanks sitting in a box or inside a berm. Its been too long since I had to deal with EPA codes to know for sure but I thought they had to be 110% of...
They're tough...But the trailer lives at my house I only will pull it if there is a power outage across town to my folks' house or at most like 15 minutes down the road to another place. I wanna get a 1009 to pull it eventually...then on to bigger and better.
MEP-002A Mounted on a Libby M116A2. Pull it with my Chevy Colorado Z-71 5cyl. Have ordered a 12" rise hitch and new pintle hook to level it out. It is just about all the Colorado wants. Need to work on surge brake system too.
Made a adapter for 4 flat to NATO 12-pin for the lights and replaced...
I dunno to be honest about those...I currently have a small flexible style interior antenna tucked behind the trim of the A-Post and can get stuff 20-30 miles away in the VHF range.
I was looking at this one says it goes from 25-1300 mhz. They have others like mirror arm mount and through the...
I know in our area you can from low band 30mhz range on the statewide radio system to 800-900 mhz trunked for the state police, metropolitan and some other areas. Looks like your choice of scanner can handle anything though.
I haven't used that model but am looking for a replacment for my...
I used Shoe-Goo from Wal-Mart on my M116 cover (both sides' stitching was dry rotted) and it is holding fine so far took a tube for each side. I am going to try pop rivets to put the tiedown straps back on where their stitching disintegrated...
I have a MEP-002A with ASK I can hear it in the house from about 30 feet with out anything on but it isnt annoying or very loud. I have to agree with some opinions in other posts the sound from the diesel is more bearable than a small gas unit screaming. Up close it is loud.
I stumbled on a video on youtube of a F-150 down there on fire with the Mattracks. Said the tranny overheated. I guess there is some chance of catchng a job. BTW like the new rides. Just needs something on the front...Q maybe?
Welcome, you have found a great site.
When I got my MEP-002A this page was a great help. MEP 002A and 003A - Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite
And this one helped as it has some good pictures of the wiring...
Flashing the field is turning the start control to start again for a couple seconds. It sends a shot of 24v to the generator field to get it producing power. You do this if the meters dont come up after you throttle up. Also, if this unit is like the MEP-002A dont run it at idle with no load you...
I've gotten an idea for the long fuel hoses that came with the unit. I was going to have my electrician put a small pipe through my wall when he puts my outdoor plug in. Then I was going to cap it off but when I needed the gen for long periods run the fuel hose through that to my heating fuel...
