It cruises nice and smooth on flat and moderate inclines. Pulling the big 'Mothers' between Barstow and Vegas was another story. Lucky they have an extra SLOW lane- I was down in 2nd.

i've driven a few from Sparta to Vegas area- if the truck is good- drive it. In general- I would rate the Sparta trucks as above average.

Earlier in this post there is the image of the tach cable connection. I have a truck with the cable directly connected. Of course the cable does not engage. So no tach. Cable spins freely.
Looking at other 5 tons there is a piece between the pump and the cable. See picture- it's the yellow...
I find that on my 925 I have to goose the left lever all the way to the back, and then it engages. The lever appears to be all the way back, but then soldier B pops his head up and asks what I am waiting for. I think it helps to give it a little RPM to help it slide in all the way.
