I have a buddy with a 2002 H1 with the 6.5L turbo diesel and his truck is like a Cadillac interior / exterior sound wise compared to my 1988 M998.
I plan to do as said above and insulate both underneath the body and inside with a host of insulations and such which I am sure will make a huge...
I am in process of adding a 2500CFM Spal electric fan to aid in cooling on my M998. Will be used as a "pusher" style to keep air moving thru the coolers when the truck is at a standstill. I am leaving the stock fan setup and Cadillac valve in place cause they work fine, but I feel the added fan...
Another way to get the air out or "pack" the system is to use ice cubes.
Sounds weird but works like a champ. With the vehicle running from cold open the radiator cap and literally put as many ice cubes as you can into the radiator.
As the ice melts it "packs" the system and forces whatever air...
Question:
I know the truck is a 24volt system but when purchasing battery maintainers such as the above are you wanting to buy a 12volt or 24volt charger ?
I plan to run a charger to each so am I looking at two 12volt chargers (one per battery) ?
A step above exhaust wrap is getting the piece / exhaust ceramic coated. This is a inside / outside process and then baked similar to powdercoating but ceramic coating is a liquid where podercoating is , well, powder. It keeps the heat inside the exhaust system rather then soaking "thru" the...
Most M998's with the 3 speed can cruise around 50-55mph, and pushed to 65-70mph.
I would guess the truck you drove was in need of a simple go over / tune up but I'm no Humvee mechanic.
Also get used to the attitude on this forum, some members would rather bash then help...
That's the last resort, just looking at / exploring options / seeing what others might have done and had success with.
Thought that's what this forum was all about ?
All good info, thanks guys ! Besides the above I have also been looking into a/c systems intended for golf carts and such but all seem to have a "ice box" for better words that needs to be filled with ice in order for the system to blow cold air. I don't see this being a practical way of cooling...
Their are tons of posts on ways people have shut up these trucks. I personally think their is no better then other way but that's just me. Lizard skin, Dynomat, Hushmat, seam sealing, etc.
Kinda however you want to attack it and what kinda $$$ you want to do it.
Was looking around the innerweb on possible options to add some sort of A/C to my M998 without going the compressor / Red Dot route.
Not looking to have to wear a sweater in the middle of summer cause the truck gets so cold route, just something that might knock down the inside temp abit on...
