500 Mile Road Trip - What to Bring?

AAA Premier membership, in addition to the usual tools, parts and fluids.

    Post sale inspection Barstow CA

Hi George, welcome to the site. Hopefully someone will chime in and help you with the inspection, or maybe someone took a look at that truck before the auction. You've got some time before your EUC clears. I'm planning to help you recover the truck when it's ready for pick-up. I hope she is a...

    No one's m35a3

I have an A3 drivers seat that I would trade for a real nice A2 spring seat. The A3 seat bottom needs replacing (seat back is good). The A2 seat would need to be like new canvas to be worth the trade. I could take it as far as Vegas.

    Bobbed Deuce Spare Tire Placement

I throw mine in the bed. I don't really carry much around in the truck- the bed is too dang high to use it for much. If I ever need to get the spare out- I'll just drop it out the back! Second choice would be to leave it at home. I can drive on a 1400R20 with zero pressure- enough to get it off...

    Primary Fuel Filter Relocation

I think the primary filter should be at the low spot in the fuel line. I always thought that's why they put it where it is, but I don't know for sure.

    The Deuce A2 or A3?

Welcome bob1256, from another guy in Utah. I know of a some really nice A3's for under 10k, if you are shopping around.

    Tagging a Truck in NV

My only issue has been that the local DMV office in Mesquite NV wanted me to drive the truck into Las Vegas to their main office to do a VIN inspection. i thought that was a load of crap (and very expensive and waste of time), so I registered it in another state.

    new Lexan Window replacement

I'm pretty sure the front glass in my deuces are not DOT, but they do appear to be laminated (in some of them). If yours is an off road only truck, no issue either way.

    new Lexan Window replacement

This is an interesting idea- I'd like to know how it turns out, so please follow up- thanks

What all MEP models do members have?

Missing 3 fuel lines, and various little things here and there. If I knew what was missing- I would keep it- HA!!! I buy the deuces to work on and fix up, I bought the generator thinking it was complete. I don't want to get into the learning curve on a genset in the near future. My M185...

What all MEP models do members have?

MEP-701A good to go. MEP-003a: missing parts, bought on a whim from GL, wish I could get rid of it...

Average EUC Time- One Mans Results

Seems like this is a never ending issue, and I don't think we'll see a solution in my lifetime- so I thought I'd go back thru my last 10 EUC's and average out the time. I only counted business days, and I did not count any any sales during my first EUC wait (which was about 70+ business days)...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

I hope this thread doesn't turn into bunch of negative posts- listing ALL the reasons this is a stupid idea, etc etc. You could argue our addiction to OD iron is nuts, too. And why do you need a 50 BMG? And on and on.

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Ha- you could have saved a lot of time doing those calculations-- just ask "why would anyone drive a 915 on this trip?" No further issues to discuss.:D It makes more sense to take something that serves as your motel (M109, m35A2 w/cover, etc). Maybe your 915 has a sleeper on it or better, I'm...

    TM for belt change?

I don't have the TM- sorry. It's pretty straight forward, done it several times with no problems. Just get the old belts off, then slip the new belts over the fan, and roll them unto the pulleys. Sometimes they are tight to get between the blade and the radiator housing, but never had too much...

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

For those who are worried about the 'too slow' convoy syndrome- I think the trip to Alaska may be different than the TransCont trip. There were a lot of folks jumping in/out--- making short hops, and that was good for older/slower vehicles. I'm sure that slowed the pace down in some places to an...

    Deunce Winshields

I would be interested to know what you did to the windshield, and the parts. I'm thinking the benefits may out weigh the drawbacks. And if you stay out of the SS chatroom, you should be ok around here for a long time... I for one have really enjoyed your posts, pictures and details of your truck.

    How long does it take???

Azbuckfever- I see your 2 trucks every week or so, they are safe and sound at HAFB. But you should have your FIL check with GL, and be more specific about the trucks and their status- or you may find the auction cancelled and your money refunded.

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Justin- you're not the only one who enjoys a slow-ride every now and then. I am committed to doing at least one trip to Alaska in the next year or two in my M185. It's always a good motivator- I tend to get things done when I have an event to plan for. Looking forward to a laid back road...
