Well- I guess nobody here on SS lives near Ft Lost in the Woods, Misery. But I made the recovery with just a few small issues (like total brake failure in a construction zone!). Home safe and sound.
I've put group 31 batteries in a deuce (plastic battery box) and it was a REAL tight fit, and I will not use them again. I've been using some Costco $59 lately, and they are great for summer recoveries.
It's never had a problem in cold weather -- using it in a couple different trucks. Of course it doesn't get colder than about zero around here. There are several trucks with same system and never heard of an issue.
My friend (with more money that me -- in fact all my friends have more money than me) just had a truck delivered from Ft Leonard Wood MO to Bear Lake ID and his U-ship bid was $1950.00. I just give you this as an idea of a real deal that just happened. Consider this 'consumer research' for your...
Where are you located? And what areas would you deliver to?
There's always business out there- for the right price. Some of us work with a budget that doesn't seem to fit in with current transportation costs.
For example- say an average 2.5 ton truck costs me $1500- there's just no way I'm...
This cylinder came from a truck that was rebuilt only a few hundred miles ago. While sitting out in the yard, it lost brakes. It was obvious which wheel was leaking- inner tire was wet. The rubber piston cap not installed correctly- so dirt got thru. Be sure to get those rubber on tight... I've...
Here are some pics of seth_o's truck. He's putting in the new brake cylinder. The old one had leaked ALL the brake fluid. He also took care of a serious air leak, and the truck looks good to go- Salt Lake City to Sacramento.
What is your question? HAFB is pretty much the same as any other GL location. You bid, you win, you wait, you pick up.
My advice is don't pay too much and don't miss your pick-up appointment...:D
Anyone live close to Ft Leonard Wood? I'm recovering a truck in the next two weeks and could use a hand. I'll be running solo, so an extra body would be a big help. Even if you're a new guy and wondering about the recovery process, I would be appreciative for any help.
The plan is to fly into...
Greg is hauling an M109 from MO to ID. He said he's good for other transports. I got hooked up with him thru U-ship, but you can get him direct. 918 864 2417. Tell him the guy (Dave) with the truck at Ft Leonard Wood referred you.
Here is his U-ship profile:

$35 to $40 bucks a gallon is the going price from some of the popular suppliers of MV parts. If I did my math right, O'Riellys is getting over $90 per gallon. I only post this so you new guys don't run down and load up at Oreillys!
It would be nice to assume you have done a complete maintenance of the brake system on your truck, as found in the manuals, and also other info in the 'Resource' section. But if you haven't done a thorough brake service, that is where you start. Even if the brakes appear and feel ok, many of us...
