Don't feel too bad, I broke my windshield off roading a couple of years ago. The road was blocked by a fallen tree and I THOUGHT I could fit between two trees next to the road. I didn't see that stubby little branch about five and a half feet up.

To answer the original question, if you can only afford two locking differentials now, put them in the two rear axles.
You can always save up for an air locker in the front at a later date.
This sounds like a lot of slippage to me. I've always heard that slip should be 5% or less, ideally 2 to 3% at cruising speed. Is your transmission fluid toasted?
A machine shop would be able to drill a new hole pattern for you, but I doubt anyone would touch the job because of liability concerns. Drilling a second set of holes in a wheel would weaken the wheel and make it more likely to crack.

73m19 is correct. I was at the auction lot twice in Riverside, CA circa 1999. You had to be a dealer to buy one. 13K for non-runners and 17k for runners.
I believe that a 5-lug Budd type wheel from a 1930's Ford AA will fit an M37. It is 20", but fairly narrow. I have seen some pretty cool setups using those wheels for the snow.
You could probably find these wheels or something similar at a wrecking yard that has old trucks.
I usually rent a log splitter, but I think it might not handle some of these larger pieces. I think I'll buy a maul and a BFH for the really big stuff. Thanks.
