    Wood pulling

I hired some tree trimmers to remove some Eucalyptus trees at the back of my property about a month ago. They left some huge chunks of wood in the ravine behind my house. This afternoon my son and I pulled out the wood with the M1009 and a chain. No fuss, no muss, just idle speed in low...

    66 Cents/mile to WY

Looks like she will clean up real nice!

Does this look weak or am I just over-reacting

I agree about the wimpy looking lift blocks. Is one of them already shifted or bent - could also be misaligned U bolt. The spring shackle mount is welded to the frame and looks like it is lined up with a 1/4-20 low grade bolt. One rough railroad crossing could ruin several people's day.

Taking my MVs hunting in NW Oklahoma

An 8 X 12 foot piece of carpeting on the floor will keep you from stepping on ice cold metal first thing in the morning. I'm only 5' 10" and I find I have to hunch over to see traffic lights at intersections with the hard top on. What do you tall guys do?

    Early GM GP MV prototype

Yes, this is true. My dad worked at Chance-Vought in the early to mid '60's near Dallas and saw the prototype there (this was before he was an MV collector). He has a photo of a prototype that showed up at the Tower Park meet in Northern California earlier this year. I will see if I can get a...

    Glow Plug Removal Tool

I just replaced my glow plugs with Autolite 1110's if I remember correctly. I had two swollen glow plugs, on cylinders 7 and 8. The tool removed those two glow plugs successfully, but if you have swollen plugs on those two cylinders you're in for a bit of work to get them out. On cylinder #7 the...

I may need to make this trip over Christmas. Thanks for the great photos!

    MVPA 2012 Alaska Highway Convoy

Saul Marquez is a good troop, I've known him for years. He went on the Lincoln Highway convoy in 2009 and we hooked up with him in Austin, Nevada.

How to get into Military Jeeps

Another great jeep if you can find one is the M170 ambulance. Same front as an M38A1 only with a longer wheelbase and a nice ambulance ride. They have much more room for camping gear or kids. They are a little less capable off road and you don't want to damage the unobtainium gas tank.

    How rare is the M 36 A3 ??

That sounds like an interesting truck!

    m1009 rear drum removal

There may be a punch out covering the slot where you access the star wheel, unless someone punched it out before.

    m1009 rear drum removal

No clip, but it is possible that the brake shoes may have worn into the drum so that there is a ridge along the edge making it impossible to pull the drum off. If all else fails, turn the star adjuster to retract the shoes. You may have to punch out the metal tab to get to the adjuster.

    DirtBag Fall 2011 ???

Another excellent video Jim! I really like early Pink Floyd. Thanks, Matt

    ~~What Not to do with a Deuce~~

Did they ask you to shut off the engine so they could hear you through the microphone? That happened to me several times in the M1009. [thumbzup]

    E-Brake works once

Low strength Locktite might be OK. Once you get things adjusted down below, you should get years of adjustment through the parking brake handle - unless your kid drives the truck around with the parking brake on. I still like the jamb nut idea better.

Riding on troop seats in a deuce

About 12 years ago I was at a Wings and Wheels event and during the car tour, the back of the deuce became a rolling elementary school. It seems no parent had a problem sending their kids over to ride in the back of our truck, unsupervised. We had about a five mile run down the freeway to one...

    My GMC, a little update

Bye they way, if you are looking to increase the overall oil capacity of the engine, there is a larger 2 qt (?) oil filter available. This is for 6.2's that were used in motorhome applications. It would hang down too low for a CUCV, but it would probably work fine with plenty of clearance in...
