    Signatures

The signatures are easy to fix guys. Just go back to the old forum following the link at the top of this one under the SS banner and fins one of your old posts and then highlight and copy your old sig, then come back to this forum, got to the User CP, select the Edit Signature link and then...

    Ok, New site...

Love the new look, Mike. No complaints here so far. This is very similar to most of the other forums I visit so it's much more natural for me. The way the images are displayed might be weird to some but it does save space as far as the scroll length of the thread. If it's possible to get the...

    M109 Camper Build

The cheapest way to plan out something like this is to use good old fashioned graph paper. I have yet to find a cheap, easy to use design program that can do all the things I want to do. With graph paper I just set the scale and go to town and it's easy to transfer measurements over to other...

    Looks like a good project...CHEAP!!

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Looks like a good project...CHEAP!! It might be more powerful if you kept it to the floor and in the upper RPM ranges all the time but I don't think I would want a disposable combination like that in a truck.

RE: Re: RE: Looks like a good project...CHEAP!! More powerful 350? More powerful than what? A lawn mower?

GL ads disappeared...did I miss something?

Regardless of how much of a bashing GL has taken, buy the threads that pop up after every auction closes on who got what, I'd say that SS members are still buying quite a bit from them. It might not compare to the large companies purchases, but I'm sure it's considerable income. Until Mike or...

    Re-powering a V100.. 5.9 cummins?

I was of the thinking that the LAV-150 had the same basic hull with minor improvements over the LAV-150 and the LAV-150S was the one with the heavier hull and a longer wheelbase. Then there is the ASV-150 which has independent suspension and a completely redesigned hull. This is all based off...

    My take on the M35A3

RE: From the Army 1997 Weapon Systems book I've always liked them. I like the A2s also, but the A3 just has a more powerful looking appearance. I'd love to have one but I'd have to modify a few things. I'd see if I could do a body lift on the cab to level the hood out and fab up new side...

    Re-powering a V100.. 5.9 cummins?

Re: Oops!!! The LAV-150 is virtually the same as the LAV-100 except for the Cummins V-504 V8 Diesel engine. The LAV-100 and the larger LAV-200, built for export to Singapore, was replaced by the LAV-150 in 1971. The LAV-150 was later upgraded to the LAV-150S in 1985.

    Roll over protection?

Below are a few pics I found of the M621 with the rollbar in place. They were apparently part of a food relief program. I think this design is about the best you are going to get without drastically re-engineering the truck. It's not going to save you in all situations as any forward or...

    Re-powering a V100.. 5.9 cummins?

The Allison would probably make up for the RPM differences and keep the engine in it's power range better also.

    M880's 2nd Life

3 color NATO would be my choice as well. The patterns are out there for 3 color on the M880 too.

    m1008 or m1028?

The NP305 is much more reliable than the NP208. The NP205 is a cast iron case that is all gear driven and capable of twin sticking, the NP208 is an aluminum case that is chain driven. The only thing the 208 has over the 205 is the lower range ratio. Also, I was thinking that M1028s had a...

    m715 rims

Stock rims? If Gimpy or someone doesn't post up with some soon you can check over at the M715 Zone.

    m113 on ebay

If I remember correctly, it was some rich guy that bought it for use by his security at a manufacturing plant or something. The story has been around a long time and I would assume that it is for real. I have the pics saved on one of my hard drives somewhere but it was just a basic M113 in...

    M880's 2nd Life

Awesome work! I can't wait to see it painted. You using the same MERDC pattern that's on it now? Don't be discouraged by the bugs, it happens to all of us. I'd get that radiator flow tested since it's not unusual for them to get funky after sitting dry for a little while.

What does a new guy buy??????

Agreed, it depends on your intended uses and perhaps more importantly, your disability. It's hard to go wrong with an M880 series Dodge as they are dirt simple, automatic, cheap and an all around good truck. A CUCV is also good, also automatic but commands a higher price generally and is a bit...

What type of camo is this?

I would have to disagree. The MERDC pattern is nice and works under the right conditions but the 3 color pattern simply works better for it's intended purpose. The shift from MERDC to 3 color NATO I believe was also a shift in thinking from the old concealment ideas to the newer "satellites...

    Tail light source?

The blackout portion of the lamp use some sort of semi transparent shield to limit the amount of light that shines through them. You should be able to remove them and the arrow shaped shields without much trouble. It shouldn't be too hard to use them for back up lamps but they won't shine much...

    Horn broken, watch for finger

Might want to check if the factory horn setup is switched on the positive or negative side. I have no idea which it is for a CUCV but it's not an uncommon mistake to make.
