I see on the 800's the mirror brackets on the passenger side are slightly bent to allow the exhaust pipe up through it. Maybe you can use those to keep it closer to the cab for better visibility. Just a thought.
You can leave the pump on with the gear (air compressor too), just makes it heavier and more awkward. I believe those pump gears are tapered and not keyed so their timing can be adjusted. The 8.3 I did was a ISC and those pumps don't require timing as it's a common rail design.
I hear that cam...
Not to bad of a job, the gears that need to be timed have timing marks you line up and a good gear puller can save you headache from having to pull the cam. I have never done one in a truck, rather on a stand but the last one I did the cover itself used RTV gasket and the new front crank seal...
New air dryer, new PPV, new governor. It purges every 20 seconds and the compressor builds to 150 psi. Hmmm
If that was my truck I'd start suspecting the compressor isn't being put into the unloading stage. That would explain it building to 150 psi and there's nothing stopping it from pumping...
My truck last winter did that. Built air to 150 psi and it blew off at the compressor. Turned out to be the PPV because the governor wan't getting any air pressure to put the compressor into unloading AND send a signal to purge the dryer.
All the PPV does is keeps air in your brake side of the...
K-town is alright, Raining...
That particular 5 ton wrecker is sitting in front of 1 SVC BN in Edmonton. I was stationed to that unit many moons ago.
Yes CFS kamloops is gone, although they filmed that movie "Cadence" there haha back in 1990. The last search radar is sitting in a park here in...
Do you have air pressure from the governor with the purge line off? With 125 PSI the governor should send air to the unloader and the purge line on the dryer.
I found this old M809 in some truck yard today while out doin some stuff.
When I was in the army the 5 tons were long gone but guys told me they used to have them. I see they put jakes on afterwards when they bought a butt load from the Americans (when we had a division is Germany in the...
I've wondered that as well.
Once I stuff that kitty under the hood I'll probably need to run a 4" straight pipe setup up and it would be easier to run it up the side of the cab like a 800.
May be a hard sell as they drink the fuel hard. I think they're 500 hp too.
I remember seeing ES selling new crate NHC250's for $14k. I bet easy $6500 each since they are brand new.
Repower it. (If you plan to run it on the highway or long distance)
I struggle with the crap 250 in my truck.
My friends blow past me in their 600 hp ISX's and 625 hp C15's. Hence why I bought that 3406C. Only thing I got on them is big tires, 6x6 capability and a nice short wheelbase...
