String trick won't really work too well on these, front track width is wider. A sixty degree wheel change is substantial, don't think it's something worn.... Something shifted quite a bit somewhere!
Check toe setting with tape measure (front and back of tire). If toe-in seems appropriate that would narrow things down to steering arm, draglink and backwards to column... don't believe the bent spring wold cause that much offset in the steering wheel
Took me longer to type the question than it did to fit the upper ujoint and figure it out! The long set screw does indeed fit through were the upper bolt hole is on the column side. Will cut 9" off the tube tomorrow which will give me about 4.5" of collapse similar to the oem shaft. Then again...
Still in the midst of my frame up resto! Beauty of a frame off restoration is that once the frame and parts are blasted and painted it's really hard to bolt any rusty crap back on the truck! My steering shaft was very ugly, rag joint wasted. Perusing the web, jeep shafts (used were expensive)...
Stan, It's called learning, not stupid!
If you do put in non-grease-able joints make sure you add some grease in the cross and cups. A lot of joints, bearings, etc come new with not much grease in them. Gone so far as to pull seals from new bearings and add grease. Not sure if they're saving...
Outer stub bearing kit with seals: National SBK-3
Spicer greaseable ujoint: SPL55-4X
Dennys below has all the right parts. For future dig into the tms (p series) for GM part numbers and diagrams!

I'm fairly familiar with this...

Inner wheel bearing seal and tub o grease. Should clean and pack bearings while you're in there!
don't believe NAPA will be the source! Just used their pro-link and part doesn't show up. but worth a try...
Lot of things i would have welded, but inner axle probably isn't one of them! Too much work to get in there to half step it!!!!
not sure if these are correct, but....

Ahh, looked up the DL number op stated.... Duralast (aka never last). Autozone stuff, bottom of the barrel!
Better off buying used or anything and finding an old timer that can do them correctly. I was referred to a gentlemen working out of a falling down building locally when i had issues...
Fusible link? Ignition switch?
Fact that blower stopped working is probably part of the clue? No charge wouldn't cause heater no spin!! Gen 1 and blower motor are somehow on the same circuit.... Looking at wiring diagrams top fuse is heater, believe that power comes from ignition switch. On my...
Do NOT use fuel line... Gates makes transmission rubber hose, 27058 for the 5/16. We usaully get it in the 3 foot blister pack. Rated for temp and pressure. Fuel line will work for a while, then it won't!
I'm in the middle of running new steel lines, but not sure if the factory cucv stuff is...
Google 27si alternator pulley, easily/readily available!
Not quite the same, but, my very hi-po SBC would throw belts occasionally and or squeal a little if really run hard. Alignment was good, motor would just spin up too fast. Bought an aftermarket solid pulley which was a little deeper...
Bolts through front spring rear eye were not centered as bushings were shot!
As for shocks, if the vehicle isn't lifted, just get the appropriate K5 shocks. I ended up getting the KYB mono maxs for the 1008. Yep, more money than some of the others, but i usually try to upgrade when replacing...
319,
Just did these on my 1008. For mine they had a set for oem springs and a set for aftermarket lift springs. OEM springs are wider than lift type springs. You'll want some sort of tool to clean the spring eye and frame bushing area. I used a appropraite size bore hone (ceramic) brush on a...
If you can shear grade 5 bed bolts off you are way way way past screwed!
Clamp load is apx 9000 lbs on grade 5 1/2" bolts... Varying figures on shear, so i won't post them so as not to!
With that said, some of the rusty factory bolts are probably degraded to the point they're way weaker than...
Piecing together the Cucv slowly and now looking at shocks. Truck is stock height. Truck is a work truck, more firewood and plowing than anything else (Well at least when it's put back together!)
Previously had Pro comps of some flavor. seemed to be okay, hard to tell as these are sprung so...
