Dunno anything about them, but a lot of places buy these things, paint and service, and then sell for thousands in profit. I have had my best luck with M1009s from private sellers. GL, in this area anyway, has been getting insane prices for them.
From what I have seen a bunch of these trucks seem to get rebuilt and sold for pretty heavy price tags. I have heard that one exporter is selling 813's for 50k over seas. Ofcourse they are being paid for with money that our government gave to them in the form of foriegn aid. Our politicians...
Bought one with good paint and sides on it for 200 buucks just before the scrap prices went up. At the same time bought another that was a little rusty for 150. These aren't super valuable due to the weight making them not well suited for use behind a pickup truck.
My antena on the M1009 I use every day reaches to about 12 ft, and you would be suprised how often I hear it bounce off tree limbs and other things in towns.
Have searched the best I can and can't find what the height is to the top of the deck on a M871 trailer. I am looking at buying one of these trailers and a M818. I am wondering if I will be able to transport a Deuce with it.
Thanks
I found a M66 ring through a friend of mine, who also got one for himself. Now comes the mounting task. I have two Deuces, one hard top and one soft top. I will probably mount it on the soft top truck, but wondering if any of you have pictures of them mounted on hard top trucks. I am curious how...
Try to find one with a LDS465 engine. It will give you about 40 extra hp, and it has a slightly different oiling system to help it live longer under more strain.
Also, hard tops are very nice. They cut down on some of the noise, which is a big plus, and they are warmer in the winter. Heater will big a big plus for winter use. Turbos come in two varieties, the C turbo(whistler) and the quieter D turbo. The C turbo usually brings a little more money, and...
Besides the nice headlights and sweet exhaust stack.... You are looking for one that ofcourse looks good body wise with no major rust issues. You want to look it over for leaks, make sure brakes work properly, engine starts and runs, all the obvious things. Most trucks on GL lots have dead...
The infection has now set in, and you have no choice but to buy a Deuce. Make your driveway much larger, because the Deuce will not be lonely long. It's like the chip ad, you can't stop at just one MV.
I would say a tow bar on the toyota, make a light cable with a military plug and 24 volt lights you can mount on back of the toyota. If you have to, get someone to fab you a mount on your toyota to use a military tow bar. The toyota can't be real heavy, so a good fabrication shop shouldn't have...
Basically what I did. Sold my Mustang GT and bought a couple M1009s. Trying to figure out where to park a M818 with trailer next, as I really want one of them to.
