I have searched and searched but to no avail.
I purchased a new mechanical fuel pump for my M1028, however I must have got the wrong one. My GM book indicates the correct replacement pump should be AC Delco 43-254, however there is a a difference in the inlet tube which will not let this pump...
Getting ready to replace the torsional damper on my M1028. The TM simply states "Using torsional damper puller, remove torsional damper from crankshaft.".
I'm not big into borrowing tools, so I want to buy the correct puller.
What would be the correct NAPA puller number?
Thanks.
I am now in the final stages of my M1028 rebuild. Been working on it off-and-on since June 2010. Still need to rebuild the injector pump, re-pack front hubs, and install a new harmonic balancer.
Although my '84 M1028 only has 12,000 miles, I suspect the front bearings and seals are original with 27-year-old grease. So before I strike out on a long trip, I want to go through both hubs and replace all bearings and seals, regardless of condition just for my peace of mind.
Question -...
I need to purchase a Dana 60 spindle nut socket to rebuild the front hubs on my M1028. I am sure there are different brands available, but is one brand better than another?
I've been looking at these mechanically-driven tachs for some time now and wondering if there is a way to hook up a drive source. Is there a civi vacuum pump which also has a gear output?
Just finished raising my M1028 five inches. Used ORD shackle flip kit and Zero-Rates on rear.
Question - the lifting of the truck caused my rear driveshaft to pull out of the transmission tailpiece an extra 1-1/2". Is this too much? How much is still left in the tailpiece? Should I order a...
I searched and searched this forum but could not find a related post.
Instead of trying to replace the idiot lights in my M1028, I have decided to leave the perfect-working stock system the way it is and simply add a supplementary temp and oil pressure gauge to the radio plate. I don't...
I have searched and cannot find the answer.
I am now installing crossover steering and a 2WD steering box in my M1028. I was wondering if anybody has replaced the steering rag joint with a greasable univeral joint. It seems I saw a photo on here a while back, but my searches came up empty...
I have searched but cannot find the answer.
Are all the instrument lights 12 volt? It seems that I saw a thread a while back that indicated the Gen 1 dash light was 24 volt, and that the system would not charge unless the light was operable.
My Gen 1 light will not come on when the key...
I'm in the process of installing the lift kit on my M1028, so I thought I would inspect the U joints on my drive shafts for anything unusual. The front shaft has the standard grease-able U joint closest to the axle, and this appears to be in fine condition and has been lubricated regularly...
Well, I am finally around to doing the Doghead Starter Relay Modification (DSRM). There are two more relays mounted on the same plate. While doing the wiring, I got to wondering what these two relays were. I did search-after-search on the CUCV site but couldn't come up with an answer. Who...
I did a search but still couldn't find the answer.
I am rebuilding my M1028 vent windows. I bought new vent rubber from LMC, but the stuff is way too big and doesn't fit like original. Instead of snapping into original holes, the upright rubber must be glued in place which is almost...
My rear battery hold-down has sever acid corrosion under the rubber coating. The metal frame seems to be OK and should clean up just fine, but in some places the white-powdery corrosion is 1/8" thick beneath the outer rubber coating. I began removing the rubber coating, however soon realized...
I plan to design & build a custom dash panel for my CUCV M1028, and want to use the same gauges as the M35A3, or similar, Does anyone know a source for these gauges?
Thanks.

Hello everyone. I am rebuilding a 1984 M1028 and would like to install a correct antennae, however do not know how to determine which antennae was used on this model.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I'm considering a M105 trailer, and was wondering which manufacturer is considered to have built the best trailer? There seems to have been several producers of this unit, and I would like to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of each manufacturer. Please chime in, all comments are...
