Well, I won one of these neat NOS map lights on Ebay and plan to mount it on the flat plastic section of my M1028 dash. It will cover the little holes where the "Custom Deluxe" emblem normally is mounted.
My question is, what vehicle were these things originally intended for? What kind of...
Is it possible to securely mount an antennae bracket to the side of a M1008 or M1028 which does not already have the mounting holes in the fender? All I have seen appear to have some type of reinforcing nut built into the fender metal. I suppose I could use sheet metal screws, however this...
Well, what started out as a simple hood replacement project has escalated into a full-blown frame-up rebuild. Not that my M1028 neeed it, because it is a rust-free Arizona National Guard truck with only 12,500 miles. But once I got started, I quickly and completely lost control of the...
I plan to purchase and install one of Bank's Ram Air kits on my M1028 Banks Power | 82-93 Chevy/GMC - 6.2L>>Banks Ram-Air® Intake System . The problem is, the extra-large NSN front battery tray will not allow sufficient room to route the 4" hose to the knock-out in the grille (see photo). The...
When I received my M1028 the rear brakes were grabbing bad, so I pulled the rear drums to inspect. The drums and shoes looked like the surface of the moon, and my mechanic determined that the drums were too severly de-faced to be turned. The cost of new drums, shoes, and the other items was over...
I am considering purchasing a new CUCV hood from Coleman's Surplus in Millersburg, PA, however the hood is for pickup only. I am in Paris, KY, just north of Lexington along I-75. The hood is crated, 60" x 75" x 5" and weighs 75 pounds. Would gladly pay a premium if somebody is moving along...
My '84 M1028 does not have the open plane intake (see photo). Was the open plane intake a later refinement? Would it help my horsepower to change the current intake to an open plane intake?
Thanks.
Has anybody rigged up an operable ram air system for a CUCV? When you think about it, a turbocharger simply pressurizes the air into the intake. It seems to me that an easy and FREE way to pressurize the air would be to harness the power of oncoming air when moving. The faster the truck...
Hello everyone. Just found this site and am looking forward to participating. I have just purchased a great M1028 from Arizona with 12,338 miles and plan a complete restore. It doesn't need much, just a few things here and there.
Thanks in advance for a welcome into the MV community!

New to the site. Just purchased an '84 M1028 with 12,000 miles. Rear drum brakes were shot so i installed a rear disc brake kit. Wish I could get cold fresh air to the intake, but can't figure out how. Does...
Hi everyone!
New to the site and looking forward to participating. Just bought an '84 M1028 from Arizona with 12,000 miles and enjoying the discovery period. Rear brakes were shot so I installed new Discs from Off Road Designs at a lower cost than re-doing the existing drums. Plan to clean...
