I completely removed the "Tank to Main Pump" fuel hose and the "Aux pump to Tank" fuel hose from the Gen Set. I used these two hoses to set a fuel circuit independent of the Gen Set. For testing, the "Tank to Main Pump" fuel hose was used to draw fresh diesel from a 2 1/2 gallon fuel can which...
I connected the three pin connector to the solenoid and the single (rubber plug) lead to the pump then turned the Master Switch to Prime Aux. Pump ran but solenoid did not open to let the fuel out.
All pumps ran when connected to their respective incoming power leads. All were labeled before I disconnected them. I am going to set up a couple of 12v batteries in series to make it easier test them on my work bench.
Used a grounding lead from new "temp" bolt through frame hole to a new bolt, star washer, washer, nut through the pump mount and mounting plate hole. Had good continuity at all points.
I put the pump stack all together and took it out the Gen Set for the 24v to test the pumps. I pulled the fuel draw tube/fitting and hose from the day tank and put the draw tube into a fresh 2 1/2 gallon tank of Diesel. I then connected the tank's draw hose to each pump inlet, one at a time...
Here are the numbers I found on all 3 pumps while cleaning, . I'm pretty sure there're the correct pumps (w/Feed Through) because when I did the pressure test on P2 (4 PSI) I did NOT connect the fuel supply directly to the inlet; I left both P1 & P2's fuel lines connected in series while...
I will remove all 3 EMC capacitors once I get the pumps all cleaned and put back together...Thanks, that was going to be one of my follow up questions. The upstream Wix filters have only 9 hours on them but plan to put fresh ones on anyways...just is case.
Any thoughts on the one pump thats...
Ok guys I'm back...Spent most of today going through of the troubleshooting steps you all have suggested and here's where I'm at thus far:
1. Tried to start the Gen Set thinking maybe the issue had somehow self-corrected (I know, wishful thinking and you're right). It started, ran for about a...
Thanks All! I still haven't had the opportunity to do anymore of the troubleshooting that you all have suggested but I will hopefully get into to it by the end of this week and report back. Your input/suggestion is very helpful and greatly appreciated... Please keep it coming.
Ok, thanks for the info! I hate to keep mentioning the weather, but it is just nasty here, so I didn't physically look at the Gen Set to eirther confirm or deny what the TM was showing and that's why I just posted what I saw in the TM.
On the one hand I'm sorry to hear you were experiencing the same (exact) issue I'm having but on the other hand I'm kind of glad because you found an easy solution, at least for you, and a simply step for me to try. I'm still thinking mine is some sort of blockage in the fuel system so that...
The IP has not been changed, at least not by me. I got the unit from GL in 2012 with 248 hrs shown (it now shows 363.9 hrs) and the first thing I did was clean and flush the fuel tank, the fuel lines and drained and added fresh oil...the only thing I've changed was adding "spin-on" oil and fuel...
Once the weather clears here a bit a will get into checking/cleaning the whole fuel system.
Two question...
What "wonder fluid" would you recommend for soaking?
I see 3 check valves between the Fuel Tank and the IP, is that all of them?
You can't see it in the videos but when the Gen Set is in used I can and do open all 4 sides of the shed for air flow. When I built it, I knew that was important and have never had an issue when it was running for extended periods.
I will also look into how to disconnect to VR for added...
First off, I want to say Thanks for all the input!!!!!
Here's where I'm at:
This morning I added 1 can of Seafoam to the onboard fuel tank and topped it off with 2 1/2 gallons of fresh Diesel. Started it up and let it run for 20 mins to get up to temp; it started and ran with no issues. I then...
I will give the Seafoam a shot, have a can somewhere in the shop.
Usually hold the Pre Heat for at least 30 seconds.
Haven't checked Glow Plugs or Intake Heaters as of yet but will add that to my troubleshooting.
And, thanks for the BioBore and Optilube info. I always like to know what is...
So here's an update:
I checked the OPS itself per the TM, at the terminals with the Gen Set Master switch off, No continuity. So, I then try to start it; the first time, it fired up at very slow RPM's and the same loud knocking/hammering sound as yesterday that I would describe as similar to...
