If you are talking about where the flex pipe joins the flange that bolts to the manifold or the turbo I have seen a ton of them in the civy world that were brazed.
I had one that took well over 6mo, I finally had an attorney with military connections send them a letter, they managed to find it withing a couple weeks.
It is ether a leaking diff output seal (90W) or brake fluid from the caliper.
It looks like brake fluid, check the brake reservoir and see if the front half is low on fluid.
You possibly have a bad cooler loop in the transfer case and the transmission fluid is flooding the vent system (the hose you talk about)
So you could possibly have "contamination" in some or all of the hubs and differentials.
Check the fluid level in the TC and see if it is over full.
I do not understand what the difference is, they are ether there or not, just about every truck I have bought had at least something drained, from the AF everything has been drained.
It might not even damage the parking pawl if only a short while, they tend to "ratchet" when given enough force.
If the 4 speed was in neutral and the T case went into gear it would not take long the destroy the transmission, the rear shaft and its planetary gears/clutches would be running...
The ends are reusable, all you need is to replace the hose, I use Discount Hydraulic hose Hydraulax Tough (HT) as it is the closest dimensionally to the OEM hose and is very tough and flexible.
The temp switch is easy to verify, if everything is plugged together and the fan does not run when cold, unplug ether wire going to the temp switch and the fan should run (fan runs when switch is OPEN) if all that checks out then the "system" is working, then if the fan does not run when hot...
You definitely do not want the transmission shaft turning as that will damage the transmission, this is why it is recommended to tow with TC neutral trans park.
Having said that the trans shaft is not too likely to turn with the TC in neutral but I would not risk it.
This would also insure the...
First the disclaimer, I only think I know stuff, in actuality I don't know squat so if you take my advise and it all goes to hell it's not my fault
The Jeep sites say flat towing a NP242 is no problem in neutral (trans in park) basically the only difference is the Jeep NP242 has an...
