You have to be very careful when installing a civy transmission, there are a bunch of little stuff, like the 4L80 (there is no need to add the E as all 4l80s were Es)
But I degress, even the lockup solenoid is different for the 4l80s that had EPROMs in the TCM and the later units (used a...
I am sorry, I cannot speak on the value, down here they are selling many 3 speed R1 trucks that have gone through RECAP, they have GEP engines, 200A dual voltage alternators and a ton of other upgrades, still only 3 speed trucks though, you can get a decent one for around $4k or so, they of...
Looking at the WMOs it looks like it got 3 point seat belts and a steering cooler.
Assuming the first two number in the serial number are zeros that is a 1986 model, very early in production.
During rebuild is it likely received a rebuilt engine, if so it should be a 6.5L.
It did not go...
The thermostatic switch has nothing to do with starting, unless you are talking about the TSU (temperature sending unit) the thermostatic switch controls the fan
It obviously never been through an upgrade, seeing it still has the 60A alt I would guess it is a 6.2L.
But I do not see a emissions sticker on the valve cover so it is possibly a rebuild, one certain way is to look at the oil pump drive (on the back of the motor where the dist would be on say a...
Just turned over 19K on the DuraVee, 82 deg on Xmas eve, that's life in S TX.
Actually we did get 9" of snow on Christmas eve about 15 years ago or so, it was the first time in recorded history that it snowed on Christmas eve in Corpus Christi TX.
It is a "failsafe" system, so if you unplug the temp switch (ether wire) the fan should run, if not it is likely the TDM.
The temp switch turns OFF the fan when the contacts are closed.
Your truck probably had a generator at one time or a heater that was diesel powered, one feed one return so they just looped them when they removed the equipment
Changing to new half shafts made no difference in the popping, they were not changed for that reason but just the same.
In my case the popping is from the rear, which makes sense as the front diff. is not forced into as much "differential" action when making a turn as the rear.
The easiest way for me to tell is look at the oil pump drive on the back of the motor (where a distributor would be on a chevy gasser) it should have a tach sending unit bolted to it, if the bolt holding it down is on the left (drivers side) it is a 6.2L if it is on the right it is a 6.5L, also...
Every HMMWV I have owned does that so I don't worry about it too much.
19K on the DuraVee and there is no material on the magnetic plugs to show any problems
Some will say they should not do that and that may be true, but go to any Camaro forum and they complain about the "popping" from the...
Pull one of the wires going to a glow plug and put a volt meter on it, when the run switch is first switched on (engine cold) there should be 24V there for oh 8 seconds or so, then depending on what EESS box you have it will ether start to pulse the 24V or the voltage will be reduced...
