Just to clarify the temp sensor that turns on the wait light is different than the one that turns on the low coolant light. The one to look for is on the rear of the drivers side head....way back by the vacuum pump. The manual switch if you did a ground to the 3rd wire on the glow plug card...
I'd say there's 2 main things that'll do that. If you have the resistor still hooked up, it could be giving more than 12 volts to them. Second is the single wire temp sensor, or double if it's been changed, could be broken or the wire is not giving resistance to the glow plug card, making the...
Having the truck smoke when warming up really points to the glow plugs on that bank are ded. These trucks really do not like to start without glow plugs even warmed up after sitting a short time. I wouldn't go through the testing of injectors and such yet. Smoking doesn't mean to much fuel...
I have a question...how do you plan to split the power to 2 different places...barn and home? Run 240 to a splitter and do 120 to each from there? How are you going to keep the legs balanced..ish amp wise?
So first off....this has to be one of the best written questions I have ever seen on any online forum. You have done so much already and answered most questions. You have gotten the fuel issues figured out with the filter housing. The water sensor is usually what leaks but can be fixed with a...
I appreciate that 100%. Unfortunately mine runs great but doesn't make power so it's yard art now. Only 71 hours on it too. Kinda sad.

Definitely fix the coolant temp wires. If it has the 2 wire connector I'd just replace the wiring. I've found the new sensors aren't exactly the right resistance to make the card do the correct glow times vs temp. Check the glow times with a volt meter on the output of the glow relay to make...
That's gold right there!! It's been years since I got the oil level wrong in mine so I can't remember how much I put in it. Having a stick would be nice though!

Interesting! Mine is just a plug on the 531. So from my motorcycle days do you screw in the stick to get the level or just pop it in without screwing it in. I ended up draining the oil and getting a proper measuring cup to get mine right. Dang thing smoked for at least 30 minutes after that...
I got that too. It won't effect me since I don't buy things that cost much. The scale was already 15%. It raised the fee for things over 5 or 10k I think...it was 10% now 15%...which is nuts!! I think in 2018 the fee was 5%. They don't do the pallet pot luck stuff anymore either.

There's no stick in the 831 like the 531 then. Ugh. Mine I can't see much from the filler but I don't know if it's the same on the 831 but the 531 takes under a quart. I didn't have a way to measure the oil going in and guessed wrong big time. On a side note there wasn't a live bug within 50...
Just out of curiosity how full is the engine oil? I got a 531 that I put to much in and it smoked and ran like heck.

If that coolant temp sensor gets disconnected the glows do the 3 30 second post running cycles every time it starts. I run 60g in mine. Mostly because I can get them at the local parts store easily. The 13g is the stock one if I remember right it has the thinner blade connectors. I haven't...
That sounds good. Sometimes the injector pintle gets pushed open with the engine compression too. The injector shouldn't cost much. You find a part number in the tm?

So my thought on testing the injector would be jump starting it with the nato plug, with the injector removed but with the metal line hooked up. Could get a see of what the injector is doing turning over fast. Could use the battery with a good jump pack on it too but thinking the faster it turns...
Never apologize bud!! I don't know these that well so it threw me off thinking there was a different model that was offered.
