I have a replacement pump on order.
easy enough to diagnose a leaking advance plunger seal. Otherwise the pump is functional. Unfortunately the valley was loaded with sand so the pump has enough corrosion to warrant replacement.
I’m in process removing the IP for inspection and seal replacement. Valve covers as well..
Took a break from the less pleasant work to add adjustable waste gate controller. Well engineered piece. Looking 👀 forward to turning up the boost a tad when it’s all back together.
I’m missing the IP diode on my 1151. 54C is currently unplugged. Anyone have a picture of where the diode ring terminal bolts to the manifold?
Related, dear god why is a 24v diode $150 bucks?
Bad turbo or perhaps clogged CAT. CAT failure is common on the turbo trucks from what I hear. Did you try disconnecting the exhaust before the CAT to test?
Old thread indeed I know.
Finally connected a boost gauge and validated I'm seeing 5-6PSI maximum on the stock waste gate. I have a turbo master adjustable unit on order just so I can easily revert to stock if needed. I'm planning on 10PSI to start, keeping below the danger range.
Did anyone...
Took the 1151 out for a spin to the local coffee shop this afternoon. Still makes me grin 😁 to drive it.
NATO plug adapter for the battery tender works great. Very convenient to top off the HMMWV and MEP batteries.
Replaced several injector return lines this evening. For some reason the...
Found and fixed a power steering return line leak at the tee near the radiator.
Fixed an injector line slow leak at the #5 injector. Hylomar HPF on the injector threads with care not to get any on the internal path side.
Just watched their last episode. Really like the double shear idler arm design. Pretty easy to replicate with the right fabric equipment. Someone would likely make some $ offering this project at scale.
Upper radiator hose and thermostat.
180 deg high flow. Addendum replaced all cooling hoses. Lower hose from water pump to crossover pipe was abraded near failure.
Found a low flow 180 in there go figure
Thoroughly cleaned the dashboard to chassis ground. All wire lead corrosion treated with vinegar and scotchbrite. Body panel acid etched.
so far so good with the gauges working normally now.
TM calls for a nut and washers to pull through. Relatively little force required on this one after cooling the stud. Zero thread distortion I can see in this case.
Yeah. Could press in with the hub removed but elected not to in this case.
