there is only 1 solinoid in a 700R4 and it's for the TCC clutch. Its about $15 to replace and is easily done with a fluid change. Go for it and if it fails your not out much.
I don't remember exactly but they are on ebay as well as directly.
I got the 3rd set ever made and I'm loving life. you can cruise at 55 and have a nice chat with your passenger.
If you don't have a winch you should be able to have the trans out in 30-45min. it's really that easy.
the only special tools you might need are a bearing puller and a press. thats it. the rest is normal hand tools and a very good set of snap ring pliers.
I did mine in about 4 hours and it was my first manual trans rebuild.
400 is way different from a 700. much easier in some aspects and a little tougher in others. 400 overall is easier. You could easily get away with just swapping the clutches and band and be just fine. these trucks dont have any real milage on them and so you bushings and bearings will be...
I have a set, don't waste your $$$. I daily drive my hmmwv and one of them has gone bad after about 9 months of use. Of course trucklight could care less. They simply say they are not repairable and I need to buy another one.
The light they produce is very clear but it's no brighter at all...
The latest body bushing for the heavy hmmwv's are about an 1" higher than the old worn out stock rubber ones. I put them in mine and have been very happy.
Ya I've pulled them with my truck but you really want a 101 or 1101. the hitch is too high you will have to hook it up by hand and it's very heavy to do so. I'd not recommend it.
